my buddies 99 GT
I drove my car to work for the first time since I got it back together, I recently installed Accel Runners and Edel. base. I had the seats out from last weekend at the track but bald street tires. On the way to lunch my friend followed me with his 99 GT auto. w/ 3.73's, pulleys, cold air, tuning, headers, no cats, 2 chamber Flows, 18" Saleen wheels, lowered 1"(I think thats all).
I was by myself and he was carrrying my brother. I actually pulled away from him a little in 1st even though I was spinning (he said he wasn't spinning), pulled a little in 2nd and then stopped pulling when I hit 3rd, but had to let off. On the way back I wanted to hear my car so I rode with my buddy in the Mustang, and my brother drove. He seemed to do the same. It was pretty cool since our cars are so close in a street race. Actually both of our best times are 14.1 this season but I was on slicks (my car is not running right...it kind of dies at about 4300 rpms--->fuel pump, I don't know?????).
If he was in front he might have done the same as I did. Maybe I just floored it first???
BTW I couldn't hear my car over his stupid Mustang. Headers, no cats and 2 cham. Flows are VERY loud on a Mustang. Nice car though.

I am not sure what elevation, I think the website says around 500 ft. BUT, south GA is VERY humid, it seems like even in the winter we don't run with the other guys on the internet (in other states). I want to go to Houston, TX or somewhere like that to see how I would compete with everyone else. I ran that 14.1 when it was like 70+ degrees out and very humid. But I think he ran last April when it wasn't too hot out. However, he was running like 99 mph, I think while in this weather I am doing about 96...I am sure he could easlily hit 13's with traction off the line.
Also, whenever my brother takes his 99 Camaro SS over to Steele, Alabama or NPR in Louisianna he runs 2- 3 tenths better than he does in GA, so I would say GA tracks are pretty terrible....
What do modded 99+ Automatic GTs normally run? I thought he did pretty good. I seam to beat all the close to stock 2V Mustangs around here pretty easily. Maybe there is something wrong with his car???? It is in great condition with like 55-60k miles. He just had the tranny rebuilt and for some reason it doesn't shift as hard as it did when he first put the Diablo chip in it. Maybe they didn't do a very good job?? I don't know....

Um....yeah, Houston is pretty humid too. At Christmas, when it was cooler and drier, I ran a 13.1 at 109. I went last weekend, temp was in the 80's, humidity probably was too, I could only get a best of 13.5x at 106. still not too bad, but I was a little disappointed. oh well, just need more power to overcome it I guess

MDFormula350:
Thanks, I like my car, but his is definitely nicer. He (of course) has more money invested. I guess money=nicer car. Thats why my car sucks...
TexasLT1:
I like modding in the summer, that way when winter comes around the car feels completely different and is much faster.
I guess Texas MIGHT be as humid as GA, but for some reason everyone that runs at HRP has better numbers than pretty much anywhere else in the U.S. I just need to get out of GA to race.
It's amazing how much slower I am at different times of the year. I am ready for October to come, that will mean 60 and below temps...
