I was with my friend cruising around when we pull up next to this yellow 94-95 GT. The light dropped and I took him hard. Too easy. Then I ran into my friend who has an IROC with a T5 and a 350. He beats me all the time. He told me to shift manually last night when I race, that I will be faster. I tried it, shifting at just under 5000 (4000 is where it auto. shifts). What would have been a 2-3 length loss for me (IROC) was changed into a dead even race. Just to make sure, I we went at it again and had the same reslut. I couldn't believe how much faster I was just by shifting! Then we wound up on both sides of a 96-98 GT. Me on the right, IROC on the left. He started revving. The light drops and The GT gets a great launch, while our fbodies spun for a little. Once we hooked, we walked right by the Mustang. The guys was like
. By about 90 we had him by a few lengths. At the next light we both look at the dude and he looks
. I feel almost as if I put a new mod on my car just by shifting manually. Wow! Chalk one up for the fbodies in the pony war.

it will show you how to manually set your shift points in a L98 car. although it's geared for vettes i would think it would be the same. a friend showed me how to do it and i was shifting between 4500-4700 rpm and now i shift between 4700-4900 rpm
although i still manually shift most of the times to be more precise.
hope this helps!
