I beat a new turbo beetle (yea I know, it's lame) and a newer Cougar. The Cougar was behind me when I was merging onto 287 this morning. I saw him coming up pretty fast, so I dropped it back down into 1st at 40mph, and he had a car on me until 60 when I reeled him. I had almost a car at 80mph, and then he shut down. It was a fun race, he actually gave me a thumbs up as he got next to me after the race. It was 6:00 this morning though, so that was my wake up for today. On the way home today on 287, I see a silver turbo beetle with all tinted windows. I was doing 75 in the fast lane and he was tailgating me, so I got into the middle lane and watched him pass. As he passed I heard him really get on it, and to my surprise I was in a nice little pocket with no one in front of me. So I punch it at about 70, and he is still gaining. Around 80 mph I start to pull him in until he is about at my rear view mirror. Then he had to brake for a car in front of him but I kept going and got off at my exit that came up pretty damn fast. How fast are these two cars, because I would think they could probably both take me in the 1/4 mile. My times are below. My car sucks off the line, but on the highway and above like 30mph my car really revs. The 2.73s and cam help me rev to 6,000 rpms in all gears, and 50mph in 1st, 80 mph in 2nd and unknown after that (85mph speedo).

are those times stock or with all the mods because if thats the times with mods then something is wrong with your car. i have basicly the same car(with out the modifications) and im sure it would run a better 1/4 mile than that.not sure about the bettle 1/4 mile times.
The 1/4 mile time is with the cam and headers. Nothing else was on then. The reason for the bad times is the cam messed up my stock matched torque converter, cam, and rear gear. I need a higher gear and stall to get me into my cam range. The cam really starts kicking at about 3,000 rpms, but before that, forget about it. If I floor it off the line, not even a chirp. I can't brakestand either, I don't make enough power until above my stock 1800rpm stall.
