time to get involved

i've been watching this post for a while now, and i wasn't going to get involved, but that story sounds like a whole lot of

just park in front of his driveway, and when he comes to yell at u to move it, tell him u will if he races.

there ya go, it shouldn't take more than a couple hours, to get that to work

What boost are these things running. Is there really any room to bump it up without blowing head gaskets or tearing up pistons. I thought it was somewhere way up in the teens.
PVO (Dailmer-Chrysler's new performance division, the people who developed the SRT-4 and Ram SRT-10) intentionally underrated the engines, as they actually put down about 235 horses at the wheels. Stock boost is varied according to conditions, but is limited to 15 psi maximum. Mopar offers a 'Stage 1' upgrade which includes a computer with modified air/fuel and turbo maps, as well as higher-flow injectors (for less than $400!) which bumps output to a claimed 240 hp and 260 ft-lbs, up from the stock rating of 215hp and 245 ft-lbs. Keep in mind they used the 215hp number as the baseline, so there's probably a few more ponies in there. The engine is purpose-built for the turbo application with a stronger block and reciprocating parts, so no, they didn't just slap a turbo on the old motor. Also, note that the Mopar upgrade does actually increase peak boost, so I imagine the mill can hold up to higher boost levels, or else DC wouldn't warrant the car anymore, as replacing motors under warranty would be cost-ineffective. How much more boost? I can't say, I'm not a DC engineer. But, given that Mopar has 'Stage 2" and 'Stage 3' upgrades in the works, and considering Chrysler's experience with turbocharging (they've made more turbo motors than any other automotive manufacturer), I'm sure there's a lot of room for improvement.

Too bad you would have whooped on him. All this 13 second talk for a stock car is yada yada . A good run at a preped track with a preped car with tires that dont hop are completly different things then a street race. Watch the videos at the begining of this site "motor week" they got 13.6 or so from a stock Z28 TPI.

I was at the track about a month ago, and I saw one running 14.2's and 14.3's consistently, so if you are not confident about beating that time, then I would still race him, but not put any wager on it.

Put money on it anyway, anything can happen on the street and if you lose, hey it's nothing but money and pride.

Agreed, I've seen an SRT Neon run the same thing.

I don't know about you guys but I sure as hell can't afford putting any money on a street race. Maybe $5 but then it doesn't seem worth it...

I have seen them run from a 14.2 to a 13.3.
If your in the mid 14's with a 285hp LT1 camaro or bird, PLEASE do us all a favor and jump off a bridge.
If your in the upper 13's/low 14's with a 325hp LS1 camaro or bird, PLEASE take a long walk off a short pier.

You guys fail to look at the MPH. If i ran a 15.3 at 114mph, you can see that there is something wrong. Usualy near 100mph dictates a high 13 sec run. For 20k, you cant beat the new SRT4. Saturn's new ION Redline will be the next big 4 banger power adder to fight off the fwd imports. Supercharged 2.2 ecotec putting out over 200hp. Im sure that can be changed and will be changed as does all SC'ed cars do. Expect that to be withing he 20k range too. Also the VUE Redline gets a 250hp 3.5 honda motor... kinda ironic eh?

Race the guy. If the kid is a tool, then there is a great chance you will win, but if he knows how to drive, then my money is on him. If you can beat LS1 cars and not LT1 cars, then i might change the tune of my story.

Well i have to say that these cars are faster then i thought, but, not that fast. I won. just like i said.

We ran at kcir.

I ran a 14.03 @99mph and he ran a 14.5 @ 96mph. I murdered him at the light, my 60 foot time was a 2.09 i think and his was almost 2.7 so. I said i would win and i did.

No bs here, but i was impressed with this car, i put about 3-4 cars on him from the start , and put a couple more on him at second gear. but he came back at 3rd and 4th gears. but still not enouph.

Good job man, just watch out if he gets his 60' foots down. Getting a 2.7 down to a 2.0 would be 14.0 at least. But with your new 383 I don't think its anything to worry about You'll rip a wheelie right past him!

I don't remember anybody saying that, but I could be wrong. Also FWD aren't good for drag racing, but they can do way better then 2.7...
