350 GTA -90 vs mustang gt -00
Hi! I friend of mine has a friend who has a mustang GT -00 5-speed with a catback. My friend says he´s gonne beat me for sure, his friend is a good driver. But i think it could be a drivers race, i even think would be able to beat him.......
My car with mods:
Trans am GTA sd -90 350 in a good tune!
Hooker headers + 3" catback +removed cats
Afpr 52psi, ported plenum, k&n filter, chip, msd wires and coil.
With a perfeckt launch i think i can get a really high 13
SO, WHAT DO YOU THINK?

i think it will be a very good race. the new mustangs have about 265 horses i think, and run a quarter mile around mid 14's. Get a good launch and you may be able to take him.

I had one friend go 13.6 with a catback and X pipe in his '00, another one went 13.9 with just a K&N in his '99, so I'd say if he can drive it, you're probably looking at a 13.8 - 14.0 car so yall should be pretty tight.

The newer GT's are pretty good runners for the most part. With a good driver, the Mustang will probably take you. But it does sound like whoever gets traction will win.
Good luck.

At our last Mustang event, the newer GTs were all 13.7-13.9 cars. Not sure on the mods, but not too much done to either.
I think it should be a tight race, and the outcome all depends on the Mustang as he has the stick!

I'm boosting the times here. I know a few guys clicking off 13.8's @ 99mph on completely stock GT's. They are pretty fast out of the box. No LS1 killer, but a stock thirdgen doesn't stand a chance.

I think you have a good chance. Like the others said though, its going to depend on how good the Mustang driver is and who finds traction.
Question for you DOOSKI. Why are you running so much fuel pressure? 52 psi seems a little excessive for a basically stock L98.

I now, the Afpr is home made so couldent get it lower than 52psi, but the car runs good, and didnt get any false readings with scantool. Some say that my fuel pump will bust. Most say 47 to 50 is best.
Damn those stangs are fast for 265 hp!!
What hp can expect on my car? i have 240 stock, so with my mods maybe 280hp, could do a high 13 then, if mustangs can do it with 265hp
i now that it depends on lots of other things to.
Well i´ll race him anyway for the fun of it

as far as the hp vs times question, you cant accuratly compare those two. he has a 5 spd you have an auto MAJOR difference there. however being that our cars have mad bottom end, if you race him down low you should be able to hold him.

If you get a decent launch you'll take him no problem. I beat a '01 GT not too long ago after it was leaving the ford dealer. I had a pretty good launch and beat him pretty bad. Mods in the sig plus new 3.73's in the back. I also have an exhaust leak too. Good luck, and let us know how you do.
