Respectable Import

I by no means care for nor will ever own an import, especially to race it in any form of racing.

However, I saw a race between a late 90's model Eclipse and a 69 Z-28 several months back. The reason I brought this up now, is I recently seen that Eclipse again.

It is a turbo Eclipse that looks BONE stock on the outside with the exception of nice wheels and it appeared to be lowered a bit. It did NOT have a 2 story double decker wing, NOR did it have a fart cannon. The car was surprisingly quiet. It is a nice color green with no graphics or stickers at all.

Needless to say, he handed that 69 Z its butt on a platter! That Eclipse is probably a mid to low 12 sec ride, maybe even faster.

What have you guys seen full street trim Turbo Eclipse's run in the 1/4?

I'm sure that car was far from stock under the hood!

At a recent car show at a college near me there was a kid there with a stock looking Eclipse. The car was greyish and really clean. Lowered slightly, and not riced at all. Ran in the low 12s on street tires (FWD 2nd gen). There are alot of fast 1st gens near us, like 9 second cars, and 10-12 second ones with full interiors!

I figure this car is probably a '96 - '97 model.

Hopefully one day I can catch this guy at a light and race him! I'll hopefully fair better than that 1st gen did!

I've seen a lot of guys "locally" (surrounding 40 miles or so) with low 12 to low 11 second DSMs in full street trim. It doesn't take all that much, honestly.
Problem with this thread is that it's not thirdgen related.
