Raced a cavalier
I just took a new model cavalier. Only mods I saw were tint, and it sounded stock. First time was a 35 mph roll. Were even for 2 seconds then I pull away slowly. Oh, I'm driving an 82 LG4 trans am. Open element, 3:73 gears. I let off at 55, because of fear of cops.
Then were at a light, he asks if its an 8. I say yes, then he says is it a special edition(because its an MSE) and I say sort of. The light turns green. He chirps the tires, while I save my tires and then floor it. Were even for about 4 seconds, then I pull away slowly. I let off at 60, due to fear of getting caught.
Its a great feeling to win your first race.

i raced an eco tek that was similar to your race, pretty even off the line but i took him in the end by a couple cars. i had an 82 z28 lg4, open element, no cat.
too bad i blew up that engine, oh well, going with an l69, carb, intake, full exhaust, cam, open element, and some fatter tires in the back, should be done in a couple weeks, we'll see what happens to the eco-tek then.
nice kill anyways man, always good when u win the first one

Congrats on winning, although in my book beating a Cavy isn't something to write home about.

haha. It may not be impressive but its still amusing to hear how some idiot in his cavy or civic wanted to race a v8 and got slammed. Keep it coming!

you guys wanna race a civic, come over here and race this kid in a little red hatch back. he'll show u civic. 12.2 on streets, with 2.4 60ft times. u figure that one out.
then come race a civic.
lol, not all imports are bad, only ones that have body kits, fart cans, rims, and not a damn thing done to the engine.

i laughed at this one dude when i was in the elky he had a full body kit big exhaust and he backed it up he kept up and then at about 110 he walked me, course i walked his *** to 60 but he still kicked my ***. i call that civic a sleeper cuz it looks riced.
elky is 12.3 car so im guess that civic was low 13s

congrats on the win. my first race with also with a cavi but it was a 89 z24 with a 3.1 v6 and some mods done to it. i beat him by a alot of car and still just kept putting more and more, i still mess with him all the time since hes my friend one time i even gave him a 3 car head start lol. but i got a modded 355. i dont no if a LG4 could take a 3.1 though, could it. also does anyone no if the older 3.1 are better then the newer z24? the cavi u raced was it a z24?

the early 90 z24 u raced was it a 3.1 v6? i always wonder if the lg4 can beat a 3.1 z24 my friend has one it aint bad at all form a stop, no match for my Z but not bad at all for a cavi. anyone know the outcome of a lg4 and a 3.1z24?

When I first had my pontiac (before I had anything done to it, and with the Engine Light on) I raced an Ecotec 5spd with exhaust from a 40mph roll and he pulled on me...but then from a stop I beat him pretty bad up to 70 or so. turns out he was a friend of a friend of a friend and we had been hangin out a couple of weeks earlier. I found respect for those things, their not bad for 4 bangers. So with the LG4 and Z24 I have to say its gonna be close...
icebird- I've caught the 3.1 z24 several times, but never actually had a fair race. One time he was revving and the light changed and he neutral dropped it. The other he wasnt paying attention. I'll catch him some time. He wants to make some video's with our cars and call it the "z-52" project. we went out doing donuts the other night. His car isnt as slow as i thought....

My '91 Sunbird GT with the 3.1/5-speed runs dead even my freinds '87 T/A with a basically stock LG4. My best 1/4 mile time has been 15.8 @ 85.4 mph with a 2.014 60'.

The early 90s Cavaliers with the 3.1 are pretty quick. My friend from high school had one, and I would definitely drive one. Too bad all the ones I see are in pretty bad shape. Is that the same 3.1 V6 that the Camaros got from 90-92? I would assume so, but the Camaro would be heavier and better at handling.

Yeah, finding a J-body with a V6/5-speed in good condition is very hard. Mine was in marginal condition when I got it and it's taken a bit of work to get it where it is now.
F-body 3.1's are different from the 3.1's used in FWD GM's. They use a different RWD block, intake manifold and heads. Internals are basically the same. As for handling, F-bodies are better stock because they have better weight distribution, but with a little suspension work a J-body can handle very well because they weigh a lot less.

I hate to say it guys, but I do own a cavy(89 z24), and I know a couple of guys who own them to, they're cars are turbo-charged, and are running low 12's , so watch out, you might think your king of your block, until one of these guys hands you, your ***.
