I got SMOKED!! It was a newer porsche where the spoiler dont come up till they hit 70 ( or whatever speed it was ) I was about to take my cut off when two younger guys pull up next to me and point ahead. I nod my head, put it into D and give it all she's got! They stayed behing me till we hit about 100.....then it was over! they passed me like i was standing still:hail: well they didnt stop and kept on going so i just took the next cut off and came home in awe. Those cars are badass!!:hail:

I've never managed to get a porsche driver to race me. They always pretend not to notice me pacing them, they just keep their eyes straight ahead. Even the speeders ignore me!

I'd probably get smoked by any quick porsche, but I'd at least like the chance to try.

Nice death, at least ya' had fun!

Laters.

My uncle has an '01 Porsche Boxster S. 6spd flat six ratd at 250 HP. Those are very nice cars, ive driven it only once and i was impressed. However.......on more than one occasion we have gotten our cars into it against each other. Each time well go from a stoplight with me in front and him right behind me. No matter how hard he tries, how hard he jams the gears (which he is very good at, has lots of practice behind the wheels of his '69,'70, & '72 TA's) and how high he revs that little 6 banger, he can't pass me. He can stay right on my ***, but he cant get around me. So if anyone comes across a Boxster dont be too afraid to get into it with them, they are not out of reach.

The ones where the rear wing comes up in higher speeds, I believe is the 911 Targa and many of those available with turbos. Those are some of the fastest Porches on the road. Way out of a GTA's league especially at high speed runs where those things really start to scream. Off the line you might have faired a bit better although still getting blown as soon as he starts revving.

It was probably a 911 Carrera. There LS1 style fast. It could have been a 911 turbo though depending on how bad you got beat. The turbos run low 12's, high 11's aka really fast. Nice death.

Sounds like a basic 911. I can easily see you getting him off the line but they have the top end. Even for 280 hp. the awd twin turbo cars are a different story and you woulnd't have even had a chance off of the line. I have seen videos of heads and cammed LS1's getting worked hard by stock twin turbo ones. From a stop they shoot out by 2 or 3 cars and just keep going. A series condenter anyway you look at them.

As i remember the 996 911 turbo's (the current generation of 911) comes with a fixed spoiler. More than likely you raced a boxster or carrera, either way nice kill since i am still in the "some stock honda's are to fast for me" group.

Oh ya, did some quick research, the 996 911 turbo comes with a fixed tail has another spoiler that does rise out of it at speed.

The new non-turbo 911's run low-mid 13's stock, turbos run low 12's. Don't forget that they are lighter than the average 3rd gen and have perfectly geared transmissions and rear engine traction.

Excellent point! I'd like to see the GTA drop down to the Porsche's weight, upgrade it's airflow, 'perfect' it's gearing..... then slap on a Supercharger (all this can be done for under ten grand).

Then we'll see what's what.....

when my bro got his 2000 t/a i was rideing with him in the rain when a porsche drives by. so we chase him to a high-way. we stop at a light(in the rain) and race some how we got traction and raced to 110 mph and let off... it was a draw.. the t/a was stock, the porsche was a carrera 4 all wheel drive.
