is this right?
should a z24 v6 with a 3.1 and a 5 speed manual with Air Intake,
Performance Intake Manifold, 8mm Wires, Magnaflow Exhaust,
and a Double Plated Clutch take a TPI L98 off the line and keep a good lead untill 3rd?? is this normal???

not if its in good shape the l98 should have more trq so it should be the other way around you should win till 3rd when the little revvy 6 gets in its band

I used to drive a Z24 w/3.1 . the thing was pretty quick but it only had low end power, when you got it up in the rpm's it fell right on its face. I think even with those mods you should kill him

my friend has a 3.1 z24 with a 5 speed. He raced my friend's 1990 formula L98. The l98 had like 120,000 miles. The cavalier stayed with him in first and second, and when 3rd gear came the formula walked him. Even with those mods, the z24 will lose.
