409 SBC IROC vs STI modded
My friend just got an STI. We put on Greddy exhaust, blow-off valve and boost controller. He is running about 19 lbs of boost. I have a 400 bored .060 with lots of goodies and 440 rwhp. I ran 13.1 at 109, with terrible 60 foot times. If I put drag slicks and springs on my car, you think I can take him? Still have the 3.08 rear though.

I agree with Shifty, you should be into the 11's. Cause I run into the 12's I I know I ain't got no 440 to the wheels I don't even have that at my motor, unless your times are in Denver than you should be faster. My buddy ran a 13.0 in denver with his 383 and 3500 stall and TH350 with stock 3.23's and a skinny 225/60/15 tire that spun all through first and part of second, but once his car hooked it was dirty quick. Put some slicks cause STI's are killer off the line, my other buddy was running 1.8 60 foots with stock tires and clutch, just hit rev limiter and let 'er rip. He had the same mods your friends had plus HKS down pipe and aftercooler. He was running 13.3 at 100 mph best at 5500 feet that corrects to a 12.84 @ sea level.

I don't think you stand a chance unless you get a decent gear in that car. Your buddy has a legit mid 12 second car.

i cant belive you guys a mid 12 second car against a third gen with slicks and 440 at the wheels that shouldn't even be a race. unless you suck really bad at driving.

I didn't have slicks on it when I ran 13s. I think that my speed was about right, isn't it? And I have a high volume fuel pump with an 800 dblpumper. I think though that my car doesn't pull like I think it should in 3rd and 4th. Maybe the 3.08 but I am not sure. It spins with 1/2 throttle in first, 3/4 throttle in 2nd, and when I shift to 3rd about 50 feet, but then it seems flat. I dunno.

You guys are overlooking the most important factor in why his car won't run 11's on slicks...the fact that he's got 3.08's in it. Get a real gear and a sticky tire on there, and then let's talk 11 second ET's. Until then, that STi is going to give you a serious run for your money.

TTA850 runs hi 10's with a turbo 400 and 3.08 gears...pulls 1.4 60's....those 405 horse vettes are trappin 115+...ive seen one run 12.32@118
i agree that those gears may be hurtung him here aswell as no slicks, but a 109 TS isnt ANY indication of 475-490 FWHP no matter how much you talk about slicks and gears...he should be WELL into the teens, realistically another 12-15 mph

STi'll have you on the street easy. Maybe if you get some slicks and run at the track you'd fare better but at this point..no

Those cars are so over-rated. I just watched a local video of a mild mustang with a turbo that puts 400+HP to the wheels ANNILIATE a fully modified STi that was said to be the fastest STi in the state. Maybe at the track with optimal conditions, ungodly tuneup, and perfect launch they are the kings, but on the street, you should be able to hand him his *** on a platter.

Yes STI's are fast, but they are all take off. I could take my friends STI easy from a roll cause they suck up top and only have a sick launch.
