LO3 goes down.......hard

I was behind what appeared to be a late 80s early 90s RS Camaro tonight, with a mid-late 90s hyundai tiburon sitting next to it. The Tibby was complimented with a huge fart can and an unpainted body kit. The camaro appeared to be stock, possible muffler. And well lets just say, if i lost that bad, id go home and shoot myself in the face. How could a fine piece of sexy american muscle lose to such imported garbage? Heres the story.......
To make it short and simple, i was behind the cars at a light near the airport. The light turned green and off they went. I heard the v8 roar to life with all 8 cylinders screaming like the demons from hell. But then again, there was also the annoying sound of a swarm of angry wasps there to strike down the demons of hell. Well, i should say the tibby went anyways. The camaro just puffed a lot of black smoke and never caught up. Understandable due to the massive amounts of hp's those motors produce. It just saddens my heart to see something like that and to know hyundai could produce a faster car. Terrible. Just terrible.

Yeah it's sad but true, the LO3's stock are pretty pathetic for a V8, I drove one that was stock and it was pretty slow, but oh well, you said that black stuff was coming out of it, that usually means that someone doesn't even get on it anyways, but oh well.

black smoke means it was running rich so it dosent sound like it was in good tune. tiburons v-6's only put out 172 hp but are a little lighter than our thirdgens but not much. i think a good tuned 305 tpi could take one but it sound like the thirdgen you saw race it was in bad condition. just my .02

A stock 305 TBI should be able to beat one. Are you sure it wasn't a v6 car. The LO3 should have murdered it off the line and the tiburon should have only caought up once speeds increased. Poor guys needs a tune up and some mods.
