Hey guys new to this so let me know what ya think. I have an '85 Z28 with a dynomax superturbo and a gutted airbox and cat, and a shift kit (700R-4). The only other thing done to this car so far is a rebuild last month (retuned heads, new crankshaft, rollers, gaskts, the whole shabang). My friend drives an 03 mustang v6. The mods he has done are two ravin mufflers and a Kand N filter. Its automatic, Now my question is does he have a chance to beat me? I know of a place where we can race for at least a mile of side by side road where it is closed off from the on coming lanes, where saftey is not a "huge" thing??? will i whomp him or will i lose. I have raced ricers an old mustang ('73) with a 95Gt otor and won. I have beaten other thirds like formulas and stock RS'??

I know Dustin(del91_305) raced one in his 91 RS and absolutely whupped it, all he has done is 305 tbi with ultimate tbi mods, headers, 3 in catback exhaust with flowmaster muffler 14 x 3 open element breather and 3.42 posi rear end, like I said he absolutely owned one, so I think the V6 will probably give you a better race, but I still think that you have this one.

 

I assume yours is TPI, if so you should walk him pretty good...

If you have the 305 tpi you have one of the best years to have the 305 tpi so youll beat him pretty easy. If you have the LG4(carbed 305) then youll probably lose. Race him and find out. Hey CAMAROGOD where in Texas are you I am in Katy just outside Houston.

 

those mustangs are slow. a buddy from highschool had a 5 speed one with everything done, headers, mac exhaust, xpipe no cats 4.11 gear, and a 150 shot. i waxed his *** with my 96 formula. i know its an lt1, but it only had CAI, LT's and dual exhaust. if you lose you got problems. i mean the only time he was even next to me was off the line when i was spinning after that it looked like my formula was michael johnson running against a quadrapalegic.

 

SO YOUR TELLING ME THAT YOUR MODDED LT1 TOOK A MODDED V6 MUSTANG DUH. No v6 mustangs arent fast, most people dont even consider GT mustangs fast. But they are a pretty close competitor with the mighty Lg4 and L03.

 

Was he spraying when you ran? That car on a 150 shot should be pretty quick, but then again so would an LT1 with those mods!

 

he purged the lines before we took off so yeah he was sprayin. went from like 15 punch, and i didnt hook up untill about 45 when i shifted to 2nd, when i caught 2nd he was about 5 cars back. we ran up to the top of 3rd and he was waaaaaaay back and gave up.

 

i raced an upper 2000 mustang in my 87 lt. had an edelbrock carb, edelbrock intake, hedman headers and a dynomax catback. i went from like a 40 mph roll and by 70 i had like 78 cars on him. lol

 

My 85 when stock beat a 02 Stang V6 with headers, H-Pipe, Flowmaster. All I had was a Flowmaster and gutted air boxs. I ran a 15.4 to his 16.4. You could have the win if you get a jump. Do you have a LB9, L69 or the LG4?

 

umm hate to make u all mad, but those newer v6 manual mustangs are pretty fast, will beat a good running stock tpi 305 and some 350's, no that for a fact, im running low 15's they almost are right there with me

iI FINALLY RACED MY FRIEND AT A DRAG STRIP. I HAD TO PAY HIS SETUP THERE CUZ HE DIDN'T WANT TO "EMBARASS ME". SO I TOLD HIM ID PAY EVERYTHING.
LAST SATURDAY NIGHT. TWO QUARTER MILE RACES. I KICKED HIS @$$. THE FIRST RACE I BEAT HIM BY A FEW (14.2 TO 14.8). THE SECOND TIME I SHIFTED MY AUTO, LEFT IT IN SECOND FOR UP TO 60 OR SO(I KNOW THATS BAD), BUT I BEAT HIM BY ABOUT 1.5 CAR LENGTHS. HE SAID IT WAS A BAD NIGHT FOR HIS PONY (WHICH HE CALLS LIGHTNING). I ALSO RACED A NEW TRANS AM WITH A LT1, WE WERE NOSE TO NOSE FOR THE FIRST FEW SECONDS, THEN HE TOTALLY PASSED ME HARDCORE! IT WAS AN HONOR TO LOSE TO ANOTHER F-BODY, VERY RESPECTIBLE. NOE MY FRIEND WANTS TO *** MODS, WHAT ELSE CAN I ADD FAST TO STAY AHWAD THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

 

His 03 auto V6 went 14.8, what mph and 60'???

 

sorry wrote wrong, beat by few seconds 15.8 and me at 15.2
was a typo. i think it is still fast.... unless he has something else
in there too, maybe a chip or pulleys?

I have a friend with a '99 3.8L Mustang convertible. It made 131 rwhp and 152 rwtq totally stock. Tom Morana of Affordable Performance knows how to make V8 hp numbers with the Ford 3.8L. Vortech makes a supercharger for these motors. Watchout boys!!!
