Car: 1992 RS

Engine: 3.1

Transmission: Auto

82 Z28 vs. 92 RS

Would a healthy 1992 3.1 RS be able to keep up with an tired 83/84 Z28 if both were stock? I think the factory horsepower ratings are only 5 off. Would the RS have a good chance at winning?

Engine: 350 carbed now

Transmission: World Class T5

Axle/Gears: Peg Leg w/ 3.73's

It depends on which motor the Z has. If he has the L69 there is no chance in hell those things run low 15's. If he has an auto Lg4 with 2.73 gears the v6 would have a decent chance.

the hp is only 5 off but look at the tourque

hp numbers dont really mean anything. paper doesnt convert well into the pavement. even if the numbers were exactly the same the lg4 would win becuase the power curves would be better.
