I only did a few things to my L98 and it made a huge difference. I got a big cam, full exhaust, and a shift kit on a rebuilt 700r4, played with the timing a bit and ran in the 13s all day long. Thats about all I expected out of it runnin through those TPI runners. If I could do it all over again Id probly start with a LT1/T-56 combo and then do everything I did to the L98, thats probly good for 12sec quarters.

DONT WORRY, they're not that fast. I beat a TT one in the pontiac easy. My buddy has a non-turbo one all r!ced out, you know, the big wing, fart tip, funny headlights, glow in the dark shift ****, even has the back seat taken out for less weight. I beat him in my huge slow FORD. YOull beat him as long as its not a turbo, and even if it is a turbo an L98 could walk it.

i raced one from a stop 2 nights ago but i dont know what engine it had (guy was so flippin cocky though). i had no problems, i shut down around 80 and he was way back.

He's 16, that's his job. He wants to learn so he asks for advice on everything. Many people say that the only stupid question is the one you don't ask. Apparently many people disagree with this which is fine but if you think it's stupid, just don't respond. I'm just sticking up for him because he didn't do ANYTHING wrong on this post and people jump down his throat and make fun of him. OK, so the d00d thing is weird and he thinks certain things give him a ton of horsepower when they don't add anything. Is that really so bad? So he's not experienced in mechanics like everyone else. Maybe he doesn't take your advice sometimes. He's trying to save money by going to friends and people that won't charge him much for stuff. Maybe they aren't the best but cut the guy a break. He's never gone out of his way to harass anyone and if he was really that bad, i'm sure he'd have been banned. I talk to him and he isn't the kind of person that likes to hear his own voice (or read his own typing for that matter) so he isn't trolling, he's trying to learn. He doesn't post things just to watch his post count climb, he's legitimately looking for/to help. If you think Shane is bad than there is no way that you've ever dealt with the public. Keep in mind, he's 16 and he just got his license. Just give him some time.

We all need time to learn! At least he drives a third gen and not some front wheel drive economy sedan turned race car wanna be. Thats all we need is another one of those punks thinking a cold air intake gives them 30 or 50 horsepower. Oh well.

My advice is to search heavily on this site for the information you seek. Chances are you will find it several times over. Thats what I did and I knew jack about thirdgens before I started. I know a good bit now but still have more to learn. Just give it time and educate yourself to avoid having some people jump all over you. Not knocking on anyone but just my opinion. Cruel World!
