The race is on!!!

I am getting ready to race a 96 Z28 stock other than a 100hp shot of nitrous. What can I expect him to be running? Consider we will be on the street.

Depends on how you look at it. He wants to know what the other guy is gonna run with a power adder, but I would have still stuck it in the street racing board.

does he have an auto or manual?

I’ve run 11.69@119 in my ’97 WS6 on radials with what should have been about a 125hp shot. The engine was stock down to the stock muffler, the only real change done to it was 4.11 gears.

yeah id say that hes in the high 11s. Low 12s at the worst. My buddy runs 11.60s with a 75 shot in his LT-1 powered S-10. Good luck!!

High 11's??? Last I checked a stock LT1 was only a high 13 second car at best. NO WAY will a 100 shot knock off 2 full seconds. NO WAY!! Expect a car capable of high 12s at around 109-110 mph. I don't know how 83 Crossfire TA got 119 from a 125 shot. Most bolt-on LS1's with a 125 wet shot barely run 119, much less a stock LT1.

RaMaiRGoD69 - I you're car is decently tuned I'll give you the advantage here, especially from a roll, no question. However because this is probably going to be a street race from a stop, tires are a HUGE factor. Who's running what kind of tires?

Yeah Marc is right, A Lt1 Is a high 13 sec - to a very low 14 second car, 100 Shot wont take 2 secs off, maybe mid 12s

the race

Now see whenever I have been to the strip in Morroco(US 41) I have always seen stock LT1 cars to run low 14s. If this car is stock with A4 trans on street tires, It shouldn't run much faster than low to mid 13s. At least from my interpretations. With this nitrous I am sure there is no tricked out timers or controls. I am also gonna race a ford lightning, but I don't think I will have a problem with him either. I raced a 89 supercharged 5speed mustang last weak and blew his doors off. (I am running about 12.8 - 12.9 on the street)

NA, my 6 speed ’97 WS6 has run as fast as 13.03 @106.(damnit, I don’t remember right now, it but was a high 106, almost 107) on radials. Mods at the time consisted of 4.10 gears, K&N in the stock airbox, HPP+ (just raising the limiter to 6400, it ran slower with the programming), airfoil in the stock TB and airbags in the rear springs. Adding spray put me in the mid/high 11s in the high 11x range (while breaking 2 sets of gears and eventually the stock clutch). Adding a street twin let me be more aggressive off the line, but I’ve only made 2 or 3 passes since then so I don’t know if it’s actually faster (the times that I do have are about the same)

Whatever… I guess that every car that I’ve ever driven is a factory freak, the half dozen tracks that I’ve run on are all the fastest tracks around (actually, the one known as one of the fastest on the east coast that is supposed to be the fastest in the area is the one I run at the least and the one that I haven’t run any of the all time best times at) and we always have mineshaft conditions here in MD (even on our 95*/95% humidity hot summer days).

I’m done with this debate, but there are at least one or 2 locals on this board that have seen me run my best or close to best times in my mostly stock (just cold air/cat back) Formula 350 (13.59@100) (although I seem to remember at least one of them standing there poking around under the hood in the staging lanes trying to figure out what was done to it).
