Raced a couple 5.0's and a SC T-Bird

Both 5.0's were at the track. First race was a late 80's LX notch, didn't look special, factory LX alum. wheels with bald BFG DR's in back. This guy pushed his car through the staging lanes. All the guys in pro were watching him and laughing. When he finally jumped in the car and strapped on his helmet, I knew I was in trouble. He does a huge burnout in the bleach box and then proceeds to run a 12.53 @ 109 with a 1.77 60ft. Ouch! Second race was a healthy sounding GT, cammed and exhaust for sure. I pulled him off the line by a few cars and held it the distance of the track. The best race was probably the SC T-bird on the way home from the track. The guy was kind of vague as to what had been done to it but he did say he was running more boost, had exhaust and a few other mods. He also had a few pillar gauges. I'd pull a car, maybe a car and a half off the line and he'd stay right there. His problem was definitely traction. With some better tires, he'd have been right with me. He said his best time before his last round of mods was a 14.6. I'd say it's a 13 second car on DR's now. Gotta love that SC whine too.

sounded like a great time, Gotta watch out for those LXs tho. THey can look stock , but man they can have some major thing under that hood that can blow anything away.

Who needs anything major under the hood... they will run in the mid 12s without much done ! The fun ones are when they open the hood, look stock, yet will pull in the mid to high 12s!

The rear mains can be a pain in them, and the PCV if you have any crankcase pressure (also known as blow by) otherwise no more than any other motors I have had to deal with!

Id rather have a leaky car, then a slow one

Oh sure, leaks can blow motors up too, but every car I have seen with an "oil leak" didnt have one that big. Mine left a small puddle under it after a day or two but that was all, and now doesnt leak a drop. Its the same with any car!

It's mostly the rear main seal that leaks.

My two don't leak, but it's common.

Nice runs! The thing that bothers me about the story, is that people laughed at the guy that pushed his notch through the lanes. That is very disrespectful.

I hope his run shut them up.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd say it did! You see a lot of ricers doing the same thing with 16 and 17 second cars though and that is funny.
