depends on what you are running and what mods you have vs what mods/trim he is
there are different types of second gens rx7
the series 4 which are 86-88 and the series 5 from 89-91
also there are various trim levels that will make quite a bit of difference in weight from 2600lbs up to 3000lbs for the convert
also there is the GTUs which is about the lightest of the bunch and also has 4.3 gears.
some have lsd some don't
from my own car I am running a 16.4 at the track with a few mods but then again I was also near 180-190k miles typicly missed third gear, and had a few other issues as well as my stupid *** was launching at 5500rpms and spun through first giving me a wonderfull 2.3 60' time
if things where a little better I should have been able to get a high 15 or so
as far as who wins for lg4 vs rx7 I would say it would be about even
you have what? 165hp stock the rx7 has around 146 stock
you prolly weight in at least 3200lbs and you prolly what what the 2.73 gearing? that is not goign to help you out much.
also the rx7 has quite bit flatter of a torque curve then what the lg4 has which will help out quite a bit. so you might be able to get him down low but the torque curve is quite a bit flatter then a stock lg4

why is it anytime a rx7 post comes up most will just leave it alone?
but no I would say driver race prolly if he is in good running condition
the s5 cars has around 160hp an extra 1000rpms to work with and a much flatter powerband. with a decent driver they can prolly hit a high 15 to mid 15 or so but again that is maybe
expect most to be in the high 15 to mid 16 range though.
any idea what you run?
