6 pistons of pain
I drive a Blazer and as we all know, our daily drivers get more races than our thirdgens.
So I'm on the entrance ramp to merge onto I-95 N from Philly to get back to NJ. A little while back I was behind a black '86 (outside 3rd brake light) 2.8 MPFI Camaro but he was behind me now. So as I'm looking left to see if I can merge onto the highway the Camaro pulls to the right of me to pass me. I'm going 30 mph and see that the merge lane is quickly ending so I throw the shifter into 1st and punch it. The nose jumps up and I quickly pull on the Camaro. Once I'm in front at about 50 mph I merge onto the highway and he pulls all the way back from behind me to two lanes on my left. So at this point I was just coasting but I hear his engine revving up and I punch it again from about 55mph. It was pretty late at night so there was no one in between us or directly in front of us (otherwise I would have let him go). So we proceed to hit about 95 mph and I let off about 2 cars ahead. I guess I just wanted to see how the 4.3L would do. What do stock 2.8L sport coupes run in the 1/4? I'm pretty sure if we went from a stop I would have done even better since the Blazer is like a brick at high speeds. He of course did a fly-by but it was fun. I guess the 4.3 had enough power to overcome the weight factor.

must have lost a cyl. even a auto v8 stang conv. should still roll off a 16 1/4s at sea level
Yeah an AOD V8 fox body is a 15 sec car...a conv. should be high 15 or so...but like the thirdgen f-body,foxbodys are getting pretty "ragged out" too..so performance is falling over the years.
Some of the those blazers run decent for their size/weight...a 4000lb vehicle blowing by you will give quite a reality check

Haha. Send that Mustang my way Stu so I can claim I beat it. There must be something really wrong with it. My friend from high school had a 92 RS 305 TBI that ran an 18 flat, but he found out later that he was only running on 7 cylinders. Sounds like that Mustang may have only been on 6.

My 96' Olds Bravada w/ 4.3 will kick the crap out of my 90' 3.1 firebird, and the Olds has twice as many miles and a hell of a lot heavier. Those 4.3s are nice. I wonder how it would hold up to a Honda Pilot, they have like 225hp.

Hahaha. I've never heard of that before. I know of it because whenever we pull up to someone to race, my friend yells it out my window at the other driver. Like that one time against a C5 vette haha. He was like, "Yea ok... I got 8!" Lets just say I lost hahahaha.
