Stang Vs Camaro
this is just another mustang vs camaro story but i was kinda thinking about racing my friends mustang.
he has a (1996 ford mustang V6 3.8L ALL stock) and i have my trusty camaro with my stock 305 tbi with the only mod being a removed cat and a flowmaster muffler.
who do you think will win?

Do the rest of the freebees! Then race him! Do the Ultimate TBI mods (nice article in the TBI fourm sticky) Set the timing 4-6*BTDC (run 89-93 octane), open element costs $20-30.....My ex girl had a 1999 silver mustang, v6. Pretty slow. My Camaro pulled on it decently...You'll get 'em......

well i didint say i was going to race him but i was just thinking about it. he just got it and is very happy to have a car. so i might not race him because he is a realy good friend and dont want him to think that he has a total pile of S**t. not that i think it is one.

the lb9 has much better heads and induction than the lo3, so that's apples to oranges really. your car is easily a mid/high 14second car. his car, if it's stock is a mid 16 second car. i beat v6 mustangs, too, but the guy still ran a mid 16 to my high 13.

I raced a friend of mine in his 98 3.8 v-6 5 speed in my 93 2.2 cavalier from a dead stop and i absolutely murdered him, he isn't the greatest driver in the world, but even with a good driver i think i could have taken that thing, for what it is, it's a complete dog, 140 hp for such a big car, anyways i think you'll have no problem taking him.

The heads are better but the cam is only slightly bigger (excluding G92 cars). I wouldn't go as far as saying stock TPI is a better induction than TBI. They are both junk in a performance world. The LB9 just had slightly better stock internals but was horrendously plagued with the stock TPI. None the less the LB9 was faster when stock.
The LO3 should win this one.

well, it wasn't exactly stock, but not enough was done to it to really make it fast, but it ran some mid-17's. my buddy is a damn good driver though. i race auto's so, i wouldn't come anywhere near what he did, but he drove the thing like he wanted to break it everytime he got in the car. the only thing that wasn't stock *i think* was it had a single flowmaster dumping in front of the rear. it has 4.10's in it now, but is still had the stock diff when he used to race it all the time (lives far away now, and i think he sold it before he got to run it with the 4.10's )

my friend's 01 v6 stang ran 16.0s or 16.1s (i can't remember exactly what it was) and it really isn't running right! it used to be able to spin the tire quite a bit but now it won't hardly spin...don't know what's up with it but it still amlost got into the 15s. and, that's an auto.

Now granted I have no timeslips to work with, and who knows if I would go 17s with it, Im not even sure, the car just feels like a total dog! I believe it though, anything will happen with the right conditions! Supreme Member
