I dont know about you putting the stomp down on the 96gt. they are 2v mod motors with 260hp. Might not go the way you think.

A 96 mustang...even with a 5-speed, is a complete dog in stock form.

The 98+ cars were but the 94 thru 97 were LO3 slow. They were an overrated 220hp.

The 94-98(was 98 the redesign or was it 99?, is it 94-97?) were horrendously slow lol. As in laughable slow from the factory.

I had a friend was a box stock 91 GTA and my other friend funning his mouth about killing him in his 97 convertaslow stang w/ a 5 spd.

End result 2 times GTA 14.6 at 96 and a 15.6 for the stan at like 88-89mph lol

Was sad, we still tease him to this day.

If your car runs remotely right, u will stomp.

later
Jeremy

i dinno i'll let ya know how things go with that i still think i can beat em perty good, but we'll see, i'm not gonna wager to much money on it either ......but yea good call what is goin on with mustangs like i love the older mustangs like the early shelby's and the 67-80 mustangs i mean they were a strong competitior in the muscle car catagory and also had a lot of power........what happened to those cars?? ,now look at what there coming out with in the past like 10-12 years its sad rilly if anyone wants to talk about selling out to the whole fast and furious **** burner thing going on i think these guyz would be perty high up there, this year they are trying to bring the old style back now but still i dinno i don't think it'll ever be as good as the early mustangs

they were only a strong competitor in the muscle car era in looks. have you ever seen a 77-78 mustang? they're pretty ugly. the mustang II (as the were called) were a joke.

in the muscle car era, mopar OWNED the streets. unless you had a bb chevelle with mods out your ears, the mopar guys whomped everyone that touched them.

The spelling on here hurts my eyes...

In the thirdgen eras, the Mustangs were really good, and held their own fine. Then 1994-1998 was a joke for them, as far as performance goes. The only notable cars were the Cobras, which could run with the LT1s. Even with the change in 1999, they were slower than comparable year Fbodies, unless again talking Cobra, or Mach 1. This is why I own a thirdgen Mustang...

A friend of mine has a 96 GT with a paxton supercharger and a borla exhaust. He still can't break into the 13's..... It sounds sweet, but only a low 14 second car. He has stuck almost 4 grand in mods into it.. Sucker!
Ford got their act together with the last couple years of the cobra's.... HP TV was dyno'n one the other day and it had 363 rwhp stock!!! They put a smaller pulley on the blower and reprogrammed the computer and rwhp was at 420!!!!
That did impress me. It don't take much to get them into 11's.
I had my hands full racing a slightly moded 2003 Mach 1 last year..
I barely beat him (no spray) and it was only cuz i had the hole shot. He was pulling me in the rest of the way. I love 4.10 gears

Mustangs...

MY 350 tpi put the hurt on a slightly modded 98 cobra dohc (b4 they were supercharged) no problem and i was overheating at the time. He had a manual and i was still able to pull on him above 90 mph... (i have ram air i assume that helped) and i of course stomped him on the line so you should have no problem unless he has major mods or your not running well ...

You got lucky or raced a car with a bad driver. The 96 thru present cobras could hang if not beat LT1 cars. I would stay on the cautious side of any cobra.

i raced a 99 cobra back when my car was in the low 14's We only got to race 2 times in a measured 1/4 mile on a sweet, flat, local county road. The first race i pulled the hole-shot because he got excited and spun for the first 30' (i measured his tracks the next day) I had him by 3 cars at the 330' mark, but everytime he shifted he would pull on me. I won by 1 and 1/2 cars....
The next race i had a 1/2 car lead from the 60' mark and he won by 1 and 1/2 car lengths. I would say a slightly modded cobra before supercharging can go high 13's with a good driver..
