300ZX questions
This is about the 4th generation ones, from 1990 to 1996. From what little I can gather, they came in two trim levels, the 2+2 n/a 3-liter V6, or in TT, but those only seated two people. Did I get that much right? My questions, is how much psi the TT version runs when stock, and what is the easiest way to identify wheter or not I'm lookng at an N/A version or the TT version, without getting in the car or looking under the hood?
A friend of mine wrecked his, but I could swear it was an N/A car, and not a TT - else he would've paid a lot more then nine grand for it.

if I remember right your are correct in saying that the N/A is the only one to come with the 2+2 option but it can also come in a 2 seater as well. also if I remember right the 2+2 option is actually in all together longer car by a few inches
s far as telling the difference I think there is a turbo badge on the rear left under the light but again it has been a while so I'm not sure anymore.
thinking the t-tops might of made a difference between N/A or not also but again I'm not sure
please forgive me I JUST woke up about 5 min ago so I'm still half here.

The twin turbo 300ZX says twin turbo above the driver side tail light. As far as I've seen that's the only badge. I don't know what psi they run but I know that with what I'm running, don't mess with them. lol

yeah they have around 300 HP stock if it is modded it pulls out huge power. And the psi question , they run about 9 or 10 psi stock

Thanks for all the replies - I was wondering if a stock TT would be any sort of 'threat' to my TTA. Didn't they run 13's in stock trim?

those z cars are beastly. my friend has one, runs 12s...
nine grand can net a 300zx twin turbo, ive seen a few for sale for under 7k before... Not sure how reliable they are though, from what my friend says, maintenence is a bitch cuz theres no parts at all.

wouldn't think parts are that hard to come by but jeez louise you can't get to anything in the darn engine bay. if you can spin from the under the hood and then hit the ground I would be shocked. by far one of the worst cars I have ever seen as far as how cramped that stuff is under there
They'd easily be as popular as the Supra, but there just doesn't exist the after market for them. I remember just a few years ago when the major hang up was something as simple as fuel injectors. 3000GT's are the same way, but not nearly as bad.

there is an ok aftermarket for the Z32 just not really main stream companys but their out there
don't think a TTA would have a problem with a Z32 TT their pretty heavy cars and in stock trim they run 14's

I guess my buddy's car was a 2+2 n/a versoin, as it had something that looked suspiciously like a back seat... But yeah, his engine bay was incredibly cramped, made the GTA look like you could play football in there, and I have all the factory stuff still on it.

Well, it's a moot point now, he managed to wedge the front end under an SUV, and his insurance totalled it as being too uneconomical to repair. Total damage that I know about? His hood is smashed and scraped up real bad, his right front fender got crunched up a bit, and his right headlight glass is all scratched up. The hood managed to slice up the upper radiator hose, too.
He had JUST started making payments on it, used car loan and such. Now the bank, with no collateral anymore, switched it to a personal loan - which has a higher APR. He's driving a beater Corolla right now. He keeps joking about when I'm going to give him the TTA, says he'll offer three hundred bucks for it...

When I dynoed my TA last weekend, there was a guy with a stock tt300zx and it dynoed 286/282. He had aftermarket wheels so it could've been closer to 290/290 <------I don't know.
However, as cramped as the engine bay may be, and little aftermarket, I'd still take one anyday over a Supra and a 3000gt. They are the nicest looking Nissan ever!

I just got my TA back, 350 tpi swap is all done, the 300z is a really nice car, a kid in my town just got one (non turbo obviously) i can't wait to see him on the street lol (he used to own a neon) At least he got a Nissan though. I myself have recently been turned on to Nissans about 5-6 months ago, i have a black 240 5 speed and she is pretty quick. they are semi-light cars and take the sr20det (popular engine swap) very nicely. I have also though about just turboing the engine i have because of the low compression they came with and the high displacement 2.4l for a 4 banger it will haul serious ***. I had a white one and i sold it, getting another one and its got the ka24de which is the same motor i have the ka24e but with dohc and 16 valves.
I am just going to try and run em both when i can but my TA is my toy and with gas prices the way they are i think she will get more limited use. It's just really nice to have an 83 body with an 88 motor because anyone car knowlegable will assume the most i have in there is a 305.
I tried convincing my friend on getting a 300z but he is strung up on a late 80's supra

Now, shove a 'Hot' cam in that L98, and top it off with a HSR intake. TT 300ZX's will be absolutely no problem for you...

had 2 300zx's can be made very fast but the tta is a faster car.period.(stock) the TT 300zx have vents on the front fascias at the bottom and slightly deeper dish wheels with a slight curve, they have the twin turbo sticker over the drivers tail light and the the duck tail spoiler. those are the main differances. parts are a biotch, they are about the same performance of the supra, 3kgt, rx7, and dodge stealth. ps there is no 4th gen 300zx called a 2nd gen, the first gen started in 84-early 89 and the 2nd gen started in 90-96(99) in japan! they are about the weigh of a t/a and are top end monsters. with a hot cam and ported aluminum heads a slightly modded ttz32 will STILL walk all over that l98. the TTA can beat it not the regular gta, now if were talking a n/a 300zx then the l98 should rape it, I had a n/a 300zx and a 88 gta 350 w/ 700r4 and the gta was faster hands down if you check the kill section there is a post of where I beat a turbo supra and

Moot point now, but I was just curious. I see a few nice ones here, and a few that have been blinged out. Nicely modded, I've yet to see one running around with gray primer, tacky body kit and the usual stupid poseur mods. I guess the high cost of the car prohibits stupid mods, unless you're made of money.
