i need help proving my friend wrong, lol

he doesnt know too much about cars, but when he gets on a subject hes annoying.

He used to have an 85 berlinetta that some other guy swapped in a 305 to. the thing had 170000 miles on the motor and an 85 700r4 that still miraculously survived. neither had been rebuilt. now he tries to explain to me that because the berlinetta was "a luxury model", its way lighter than my car (he threw out the number 3k), and because of this carburetor, he had close to 200hp to the wheels.

i have an 82 z28 with the glass hood, modded exhaust and intake and a newer q-jet that is tuned. probably 165 at the wheels.

tell me how much a berlinetta with a v6 weighs. and if anybody knows, how much the 82 weighs, that would be great too.

i guessed the berlinetta weighed around 3350 and i weight somewhere around 3200. does this sound right?

Your car probably weighs right about 3400, his probably weighs about 3500. All of those "luxury" items were heavy. If someone knows more about the weight, feel free to correct me.

And there's no way in heck it had 200 rwhp on a stock 305. 130 if he was lucky. 200 rwhp would give it right about 235 or so at the crank.

lol glad to help. Just to add something further, I don't think ANY 3rd gen 305 had 200 rwhp stock, the 91-92 G92 5-speed Lb9s might be close, but probably a touch under.
