What do you think I could run in a 1/4 mile? (New motor)

Hey, I was just curious about what my car might be able to run in the quarter mile. I have a ZZZ motor (the zz4 before it got the name) that has stock 350 hp and 380 torque. It has all aluminum parts in it too. It has the same tpi setup (86 z28), edelbrock headers, flowmaster exhaust, new a.i.r., accel 2x58" billlet 1000cfm throttle body, and 3:73 gears, linked to the stock 700r4. Any guesses? It could just be luck, but I beat my friends 12.5 second mustang from 30 mph and from a light. Thanks a lot guys.

you should be running high 12's with that much torque and horsepower and the gears. Try getting a stall and a shift kit in that tran. it will help out alot.

You have the stock TPI? What about any computer work? I don't see how you could be even near 12's with the stock TPI on that motor.

Car: 1987 IROC-Z Camaro
Engine: 5.7 350 TPI - SLP Runners, AFPR, MSD Goodies
Transmission: 700R4 - Shift Kit, Corvette Servo
Axle/Gears: BW 9 bolt, 3.27s
.

I doubt it will have 350 hp and 380 tq. With TPI, it will more than likely make 290 hp and 450 lb ft tq. I would guess 13 flat. Get a stall.

Car: 94 Z28
Engine: LT1 w/ headers, catback, CAI, tune
Transmission: 4L60E
Axle/Gears: 3.23s
I think you'll be doing good to hit 300hp with stock TPI on top of it. The ZZ3/4/whatever isn't much different from a stock Vette 350 TPI really, hotter cam but that's about it that would affect power output. And they obviously were no where near 350hp... The hotter cam and headers and such will net up near 300hp (at the crank) and mid/high 13s at best I'd think... Just my .02

Well, when those engine numbers were tested, it was used with headers and exhaust and i think a holley four barrel. How different would my ratings be because of the tpi? I assume a little less hp and a little more torque? And also, I do have a reciept from the guy for some type of chip, but I dont know what it is. And finally, I really don't know much at all about stall converters. Could you explain them to me, and what kind I would want or need? I am using this as my daily street car, so I don't wanna do something huge, and I would not like to kill my gas mileage too much as it sucks already. THanks so much for all your help.

i didn't see that it had stock induction. yeah probably mid 13's. A stall makes it so the convert it "loose" untill it hits the advertised rpm. it makes it so when you power brake it will let the motor spin to that rpm before it starts spinning the wheels. A 2200 rpm stall would probably be perfect for street and some racing.
