Modded GTP vs. stockish '91 T/A
My bro and I were coming home last night and the air was a chilly mid-40's and getting colder. He has a modded '98 GTP. And I have my stockish '91 T/A. We went from a roll, I want to say around 40 or so and I hung with him to about 65-70 when he started to pull away from me with ease. We did that about 3 times. But the best race was from a stop up to about 55, we were neck and neck, both of us spinning through first.
Now this may not seem like much, but keep in mind that before with the 2.73's he would destroy me from the start at a light and the 40-45mph roll I would only hang to about 55mph. I love the 3.42s!!!
As for the mods:
My Trans Am Home Depot 3" Cai, stock 3.42 gears from an '89 IROC, and a Flowmaster 80's muffler. Pretty much stockish. Oh and it's a 350 with Lb9 heads, LB9 manifolds, Lb9 memcal, and Lb9 exhuast.....talk about restriction, eh?!
My bro's Low 13 second GTP has 3.0 pulley, VS cam, TOG headers, 3" full exhaust, and DHP computer.

That GTP sounds like a monster. I didn't know they made headers for those cars. Cool stuff. It would be neat to implement that blower on the 3.8 f-bods.

Holy crap, yeah, that was mine. LOL! I remember that race, wasn't that around Baseline and Country Club? That was 2 or 3 years ago, huh? How's your car doing? Lsst time I saw you was at the car wash after it was painted.
Shifty, yeah his GTP is a beast, but for me to hang with it until 55mph with his supreme torque advantage,,,,I guess it just shows where TPI still kicks *** with todays cars. As for the headers, the L67 motor has been around for 10 years now and they still only have 3 vendors that make headers for them. TOG is the best and most expensive ($750 or so), then SLP ($600) and finally S&S ($250 bare, and $400 coated).
I am installing the L98 memcal and injectors this weekend and might uncap the exhaust for round 2. I know I won't take him, but if I can hang to 65-70 this time, I'll be thrilled.

Ah, just shoehorn an LC2 into your car, that should put you at even with him, or so...
Or a decent set of heads and a manifold, manybe...? Might be cheaper then finding a running LC2 and 200R4, methinks.
