Me vs. my friends 300zx tt

My friend and I would like to race each other for fun. He has a pretty much stock 300zx turbo, 1991. I have a ZZZ HO 350, 373 gears, i will have a t5, edelbrock headers, flowmaster 3" catback, 2x58 throttle body on the stock tpi from the 305. also, he is planning to get full exhaust and intake kit which supposedly will give him 100hp because of how restrictive all the stock stuff is. thanks guys.

If by intake he means upping the boost then I could see a possible problem.

If you can get that car hooked up and running right on the TPI (which I personally would dump...but what do I know) then I see a victory in your future

Intake system has nothing to do with boost pressure. Exhaust does wonders for turbo cars, but not 100hp on that car.

yea it also comes with something else that raises the boost slightly and a gauge pod. its a package deal. and yea i was about to dump the tpi for an hsr or lt1, but my trans blew a little while ago. im finally able to afford a t5, i just gotta find one and get it in. then i gotta get new front brakes, and then im onto the intake setup. and then rims. and the list goes on, lol. but you are right about the tpi, the previous owner put it on there. he used everything from the stock 305...entire tpi, injectors, even the stock filters lol, which ive changed. but as soon as money allows me to do a performance upgrade i will be all over an intake.

It's all going to depend on how much boost he's running and your ability to shift.

With just the info you posted I wouldn't be surprised if you lost.

If he's stock now you'll take him.

Turbo cars respond VERY well to exhaust mods and more boost(obviously lol).

I personally wouldn't bother with the LT1...but I might be talking out of my ***...I really don't know that much about the newer intakes out there [Cocky LS1 guy] My intake already flows well [/Cocky LS1 guy]

I can almost gaurentee the lt1 intake will flow better than the tpi, not a whole lot, but more.

what about in comparison to an hsr and in comparison to an upgraded tpi, like ported plenum and bigger runners?

I absolutely love the LT1 intake on my car. Mildly ported LT1 heads, LT1 intake, 224/230 cam, 24# injectors, 1 3/4" headers, 3" Hooker exhaust, K&N CAI. I LOVE the sound of it and it pulls damn strong for having a stock L98 chip in it (might even be a 305 chip, I don't remember anymore).

Can't say enough good things about it.

im talkin about just the intake though lol. i already have exhaust, new high output crate motor, and a 350 chip (changed over from a 305).
