90 RS vs. late 90s stang

Well, I just recently got my car fixed from the accident i was in, and it looks great! I drove it to school for the first time today in about 3 or 4 weeks too.

But anyway, during my lunch period me and two of my friends got in my car and were on our way to a fast food place (by the way, both of my friends are pretty big, one is 6'8 200 lbs, and the other is 6'1 210, with me being only about 5'9 165, lol) and we were at a stop light. A white and blue late 90's Mustang GT that looked pretty nice pulled up next to me, with two guys in it who both looked pretty small, and I was thinking that I should just lay low and ignore them. But the guy in the passenger seat looked at me and gave me a dirty look, so the race was on, hahaha.

The light turned green and we both put on the gas. (At this point I could tell that he had a manual transmission) We raced to about 40 or 45 and then we let off the gas, but the entire time my nose was at about the beginning of his front fendor, no loss no gain.

Then I turned off and went to McDonald's and he kept going straight. Anyway, I was really surprised that I could keep up with him in my little LO3, especially with my two large friends in the car. I have no idea how I stayed with him, but I gained a little more respect for my car! haha. It was a fun little race.

He should have walked all over you. You were at a serious dissadvantage. He is either horribly out of tune or cannot drive very well. None the less anything can happen on the street.

A race to 40 doesnt show much... Your car makes good torque and is probably why it held with him. A race higher might have ended worse for you!

He probably did have a auto, you only went 40 to 45 so how could you really tell.

Depending on the year of the Mustang, there could be a big difference. As all of you know, the '96 thru '98 GT was much slower than the 99+. If the Mustang was a V6, you should've had a clear advantage, but who knows in a race to 45.
