The hot G6, the GTP, isn't even that quick. 3.9-liter V-6, 240 bhp, 15.0 @ 94.7 according to Road & Track. The "basic" V6 is mid 15 seconds, and the 4 banger is closer to 17 seconds, those numbers from Car & Driver.

back in the fall i raced a G6 the first year they came out with them and it was the GT model with the 3.5? i believe V6. first race he outran my 305tbi which was stock even thought i spun on launch. second race i spun but he pulled ahead to my front bumper being to his rear and we stayed there. he thinks hes badass but hes not ready for the winter car im about to buy from the dark side and its only a tiny 3.0 SHO ill teach him a lesson

yes, i'm ashamed i did "run" one. i succumbed to the reving engine. it was over right after i hit the gas. it looked like someone was stretching a rubber band.

honestly, i didn't know what the car was capable of so i went home a looked it up. now i have sworn off the g6. not a bad looking car but no fun 2 run.

They are just like every other 3500lb 200hp V6 car that GM has produced and should run high 15's with the sport versions running into the low 15's.

my best guess from what i know from my run is a 350 will smoke one of these but a 305 it will give it a run and most likely outrun it unless you got mods you probably wouldnt need much since it was so close.

haha well put. GM has had and still has many of these cars. The V6 motor is nice, but the car is just too damn heavy.

My mom has an 06 g6 GT, and last week after I washed it for her, I caught a race with an Lb9 auto car (85 iroc). It was off a light from a 15 or so roll, and I beat him by 1 car by 55 mph, so I let off. I was going to post it but I didnt want to get ragged on for racing with a G6 Oh and the G6 GTPs run faster than a flat 15, I witnessed a girl (that can drive btw), hit 14.7 in her STOCK 6 spd.....times with a tune havent happened yet.

LMAO! Nah there are quite a few girls up here in the Detroit area that can drive, and have been known to hustle a few guys out of races (and money).

Where do you live? The back of a cave?

I thought it was common knowledge that women are known for better reaction times than men as well.

I see G6's, but they're all driven by soccer mom's and old men, not the type of people looking for races.

Cant believe I am posting here but what the hey,

my sister has a GT and it runs good for what it is.

I have heard many places, especially among bracket racers that women can be pretty lethal on the tree when they want to be.

I guess I am in trouble, I have an 86 LB9 which stock has the peanut cam. I will make sure my sister dosnt try to race me because I am sure my 305 will get wasted

raced g6 gtp coupe

I raced my wifes 2006 pontiac g6 gtp coupe on the back highway with my 1990 iroc 5.7 tpi. Started the race at a traffic light. I bet the g6 by a car lenght up to 80 mph. The iroc fishtail a bit while the g6 had alot of overster at the start of the race. Both cars were neck and neck for the first 25 feet until the irocs tires finally griped the road then it was all over for the g6 gtp.

1) You mean torque steer, not oversteer.
2) I'm not sure that only one (1) car length is "all over" for a race. That's just one slow shift to victory for the trailing car.

My 1990 iroc is all stock. the tires are pretty worn out in the rear. If i was going to drive the g6 i would of taken the traction control off for a better launch.

I agree 1 car lenght is not all over in a race, but against my g6 gtp i was racing my iroc was running strong and the g6 could not gain on me.

What about a dodge magnum r/t? On paper a magnum vs a 1990 iroc 5.7 tpi has the same performance in 0 to 60 and in the quarter mile. The magnum has a top speed of only 130 mph vs the iroc with 145 mph.

How about the new charger...

I know they go pretty good in reverse, my bumper has the peeled paint to prove it...

Man, I've seen too many people show up at the track with some big a$$ chrome DUBS on their Magnum, just killing the performance. They look really disappointed when they run low 15s with 80lb tire/wheel combos, but what do you expect!?! Those wheels/tires can take almost a full second off their ET. Just don't mess with the SRT8 version.
