bunch of races

ok once again ill state my car is a stock 305 tbi with a 700r4 has gutted cat and 2.5" catback on it and sticky *** tires.

first race was vs my friends G6 again. i outlaunched him both raced and had him till 80 when he passed me and it was all over. his car sucks at launching but nice top end i must say.

second race was a low 90's prelude. guy had a muffler, rims, carbon fiber hood, dont know what else. going from a 50mph roll we both gun it i just kept pulling ahead of him over and over each race then i let my friend with the G6 race him and they raced to 130 and the prelude was doing 120 i think there but G6 won overall.

I hope these werent on the turnpike. And if they are Im glad I was working tonight and not out there driving around with people racing at those speeds.

Oh well, as long as your racing on the right roads (with noone to kill but yourselves) then good runs. If your racing in areas with traffic and other people, then I sure hope you never kill anyone I know.

You would be surprised... You can actually have fun without putting people in danger. I say this because a lot of immature kids will race on that road I mention and if you only knew how dangerous it was you would agree. Oh well, you dont have to come party with me, I'll get over it, real fast!

I know I'm just messing with ya didn't want to offend you. Yes it is very very dangerous to go 120-130on the highway the track is always the best place to race. You'll will never reach those speeds at the track on stock cars and it is alot more fun to try to get better times with each run.

Street racing is also fun but you have to know your limit you should never go that far over 100. Just yesterday I race my buddy, I just bought a 95 firebird LT1 for $1500 ( I know a really good deal ) its completey stock runs perfect. An I wanted to see what it can do up against my friend's 92 GT stang w/3.73 gears, exhaust, no headers,CAI intake, short shifter, and E cam.

We were at a street light once it turn green he took off spinning an I jumped out almost 2 cars on him he didn't catch me until 90mph but once he did we both let off. His car was clearly faster really no need to go pass 100mph.

Its one thing to race out in the sticks, noone around and if you get hurt dont expect ANY sympathy... its another to do it where people are. I just know the area and where people race, and I hope he raced in one of these secluded spots, and not out where everyone and their mother are cruising or driving.

I personally dont street race, but then again Im a track *****, who likes to have some proof when he does something good!

I never understood(not talking about anyone here just venting) why someone who has a local dragstrip wouldn't use it. I'd love to have a drag strip around me.

Why? You ask?

Couple of reasons come to mind save $10 and race on the street then use the money to drink and drive.

Or race people for money and never let your opponet know how fast your car really is.

If you think about it how many people want to pay $10 ever time they find someone new to race. I know I don't but I'm cheap anyway.

Because you usually don't drive down the drag strip on your way to Blockbuster, but on your way to Blockbuster is where you'll often run into a Civic that will hand you your ***.

An hour Viper... I dont know where you live but assuming you mean 5 mins from the turnpike, the closest track is about 2 hours or 120 miles. The next is 2.5 and then about 3 to the next closest...

I STILL wont street race, even tho the track is so far away.

Some people dont race at the track for many reasons... my favorite is they know their car will run crappy times, and dont want to see the harsh truth!

Yeah I hear ya brother doesn't worth beating a crapy civic!

I would be thinking the same as you if my car was slower than Slow Poke Rodriguez!

Simple fact: POWER CORRUPTS!

I live 5 mins off the pike too, and LVD (labanon) is about 110-120 miles. Going 65-70 you get there in about 2 hours. Easy drive, but still time consuming.

Englishtown is 2.5 hours or so (can take up to 4 or more with that horrid NYC traffic) and NED in NH is just under 3. NED is the worst trip by far for the "local" tracks.

Good luck with that... I got nabbed for doing 68 on the MA Pike. YES 68 mph and the cop pulled me over and gave me a ticket. You can try to go 70-80 the whole time, but I can assure you do it a few times with CT tags on your car, they will pull you over!

My closest track is about 30 minutes, but it sucks. it's always FULL of people and the prep blows. It's sears point/infineon raceway in sonoma, ca. Sacramento raceway is much better, but it's an hour away.

Supposedly they're building another 1/8th mile strip about 25 minutes from me, I might start hitting that up. If sears point didn't blow so hard i'd never street race. The only time sears point is cool is when there are only like 10 cars there lol

My nearest track is about an hour and 15 away I think... I dont like to street race but when im summoned with the rev its hard for me to back down, but i dont ussually race that long.... i dont like to go over 80 on the street so if im not ahead by then its useless anyway so i shut it down... like that civic with the b-16 swap i beat a couple weeks ago.... after work on the way home.. 2am.. what the hell. What does a basic b-16 swapped civic 2 door run in the 1/4??? must have a bad 60ft cuz i raped him off the line lol... and he asked to go from a stop... muahahah. and I just barely beat a VW jetta 1.8t... it looked really new and no idea if it was modded but i didnt pull until 3rd gear... on the way to work... lol. so it would be great to race at the strip but you know sometimes it happens...

Speaking of runs, had a little fun this morning on a stretch of industrial road.

Stopped at the lights and a black 95'ish 2 door Prelude (very likely a SR or whatever) revs to get the jump on the light. I figure, lets boogie. Light turns green and I rip him off the line for 100 ft. He's behind me a good car for about 325 metres, then pulls by me by about a car at the top end. I had her going to 5500 rpm just slammin' the gears and I could see him just behind me for most of the time doing the same thing.

The weekend before, raced a white early Talon. He had guages on the pillar and all. Funny thing was, I had him about a car aswell for a full 300 metres, then he pulled ahead by about another car length and a half on the top end. Dang!

I seem to be running into these races lately on a Saturday morning while driving to work. Always in my Topaz '92 3.0 5 speed.

Not bad for a Slopaz, I would say.

A Civic with a B16 in it is normal. He probably had a D16 then swapped the B16 in there, which is just the Si motor. It's the equivalent of swapping a 305 out and putting a 350 from the same year car in.

The Prelude designation that you're thinking of is the SH.

an H22 swap can be done to a Civic. a friend of mine had one a few years ago. ran high 13s with just exhaust & intake (dont remember mph). on 50 shot it went 13.4 at 109

hmm im curious what they trap at. I trap at 105.5 powershifting on drag radials (it would trap higher on my normal shoes) and I'm about to tune it sooo

Very possible. If it's just a swap with bolt ons you should still have him relatively easily.
