well last night once again i was in the mood to do a bit of racing. i met a guy with a 60s i want to say barracuda which he claimed came with 180 hp stock and he had an auto with headers and side exit exhaust. G6 is completely stock with the 3.5 V6 and also is an auto.

first race it was me vs the G6 we both had 1 passenger not like it mattered. ive raced him before with just my catback exhaust, but this time i had an open element i knew it wouldnt do much if anything. so we went for the fun of it twice first time i launched late and he took me by 1 car at 80. second run i outlaunched him had him till 80 then he passed me.

second race was the barracuda with no passenger and i still had 1 passenger. first race from a stop we both launched hard except i took him off the launch even while spinning and held him to about 90 when he came flying past me. second race we went from a 15 mph roll. i jumped about 1/2 a car ahead of him until 75 80ish because a G35 came flying up behind me and wanted to pass so i slowed and moved. but all in all good race i love launching my car.but soon ill have my 125 shot of nitrous and they wont even be worth racing although itd be funny to see.

I bet that Baracuda was putting out more than 180hp. I pulled up to a Cuda' once and just attempted to race hime for fun. It was a mess, he made me look stupid. Those things are extremely fast, but you said you raced a Baracuda right not a Cuda?

Vipershark11 you should look into some new Valve Springs when you get your nitrous, I bet yours are starting to float early. Nothing special is needed with the L03 peanut cam, just the Pioneer or Elgin 30 dollar sets that can be had anywhere.

it was a barracuda not cuda. guy said stock was 180 but didnt know anything from the headers, side exit exhaust, tiny open element. i had fun thats all it was for he only wanted to race me to see how his car would stand cause he just got it.

yes i know my car is slow but i was only racing for fun it really wasnt serious at all. most cars i see daily could probably smoke my car but thats why im getting nitrous then tell daddy to race me

thanks ill look into those springs if the motor starts being gay on me but i just got the bottle in today so im waiting on the kit still.

My L98 got real bad about pulling to around 3500 then feeling flat, I would dominate other cars until I got into 3rd gear then the car would just feel flat and I would get pulled hard, one of my friends said it literally looked like I hit the brakes during a race. Changed my springs out for generic Pioneer ".550 lift" springs and it's a whole new car. BTW I've been wondering how an L03 car will act on spray you sould post up your results when you find out!

Even a mild 318 Barracuda would have pulled you really bad.

Any car with junky plugs, a misadjusted carb, or a plethora of other problems can be outran by a weaker car. It also could have had alot to do with the drivers and the tires. I don't even worry about who should've won anymore I just worry about who did.

I'm running nitrous. I put in a TH350 and it really taxed the already old springs (160 plus thousand miles). The springs were in need of an upgrade from the day I bought the motor but the last 4 or 5 runs really started to show it. The motor runs stronger now than the day I brought it home from the junkyard. The crazy thing was I never knew I was getting valve float, I always blamed the lack of top end on the TPI setup. The car now pulls hard to over 5000 rpm. I know how big of a pain it is but it was probably the best power "upgrade" I did since the nitrous kit.

exactly

my buddy has a 60's plymouth with a bone stock 383 w/auto in it that runs like total crap. but still, its a big block, and has potential. it needs plugs, wires, cap and rotor, im sure the timing is out of wack, probably needs a chain, he's always messing with the carb and F'ing it up even worse, so it has no guts and spits smoke like tommy chong in amsterdam, and the damn thing wieghs almost 5000 lbs i bet.

after our friends IROC ate him up several times in a row, i jokingly went out in my 6 banger w/T-5..... and beat him!

lets be real, that car is just out of shape, and would be a monster with a tuneup and 1000 bucks in bolt ons. but its not, so its not, so we laughed really hard that day. lol

perfectly running slow car > barely running "could be" fast car
