99-04 GT

Ok my car should be up and running within the next couple weeks and I've got a friend with a stock auto mustang gt. I'm not sure what the year is but it's one of the 99-04's. My car is a 91 rs with a tbi 355. The engine it's pretty much just an 89 l98 except we didn't have the actual tpi fuel injection so we put the tbi on it. The cam is a stock cam that by description was used in 87 corvettes and irocs. It has a 206-216 durration. I've got bosch platinum plugs and wires, edelbrock catback, no cat, and for now just a motorvation chip. Also I think I have 2.73' s. I read in a Haynes manual that in 91 and 92 there was only 2 rearends offered, one being lsd 2.73 and open 3.23, mine does have the lsd. So do I have any chance beating him or will he just walk away?

And also with the tpi l98 being rated at 235hp, what did going with the tbi do for my hp. Any estimates?

Well my bud with a few bolts on and the tpi system with 2.73's beat one by about a car so you may have a chance, I dunno cause our tbi systems are bad without custom chips.

I doubt you'll win this one with a stock cam and TBI on top. It'll all depend on how tuned in the Mustang is. Just hope for some old crappy spark plugs and wires and make sure your car's in good shape.

You better hope his car isn't tuned or well taken car of. Also use everything you can to your advantage like making sure your low on gasoline to save wieght, don't eat before hand lol. Is your's a manual or auto. If manual you may win with auto it is a close race.

His car should be mid to low 14s without worry (I doubt even a 99 with a lot of miles wont run any worse than that in decent conditions) so figure that and how you think your car will run!
