If you only have a stock TBI 305 I would go with the impala with a 3.8, on the flip side they also had a 3.4 180hp v6 and you still might lose to it in the top end. A guy I used to work with had an olds Alero with a 3.4 and it would hall a$$ for a little two door car,but the Alero is also lighter.Either way it will not be easy for a stock 305 unless you have mods.I only drove in the Alero when it was stock but he did a few bolt on mods from slp and he showed me a slip that had 15.1 on it so I would assume a 3.4 impala could get into the low 16s stock.

i have an 03 3800 v6 impala... and i walked a late 70's Vette manual trans. sure he was stock, looked like it. which is like a 16 second car
but the 03 is slowwww. any 305 TPI car should take it down. even a L03 might bring it down. i dont think the impala is a high 15 second car. more than likely in the mid 16's. 3.8 v6 4th gen camaros are mid 15's or so.
my 3.0 91 dodge spirit is geared better in first gear than the GM impala/grand prix. i raced my spirit against my friends new grand prix 3800 from like 30mph and it was close till about 55-60 where he started creepin away. shut down at 65-70, he was near 1.5 cars ahead.
that said, i think from a dig, the spirit would win. as would a camaro 305 with its low end and gearing advantage. the impala likes higher roll speeds since the gearing is sooooo highway oriented. first gear goes to like 50mph or something like that, i dont remember..but its long. its a dog off the line. doesnt even spin tires unless u stall it up with TC off,, it will chirp. spirit will roast first gear if your not careful lol
i take it you got rid of it by "I HAD" lol or else u have a bigger motor now? cuz if you still have the 305 and near the monroeville/murrysville/greensburg area, you can take on the 03 imp

MY 3800 will from a dead stop no throttle at all will spin the tires off with no problem. and no i dont have the 305 in it now . i took it out to put in a 400 sb .i live in new stanton so when i get my 400 done we will have to line them up.

wow new stanton isnt that far from me.... i'd love to meet up. sounds like u'll eat my L98 alive tho hahaha. my dads 03 just doesnt spin tire. the old lumina with its 3.1 liter 160 hp motor would tho. that car i think was faster than this 3.8 200hp impala, mainly cuz i think it was alot lighter
