15.169?
I am extremely dissapointed with my Z. Last night I ran a 15.169 @95.4mph.... My 60ft was 2.20. but I had an extremely good RT. .240 sec. I did notice that my drivers side rear tire had only 20psi. I don't know what happened. I thought that 350tpis were good for mid-14s at least.

95 MPH should be a low-mid 14... If you can get that 60' down to a 1.9 or 2.0 you will probably achieve the ET that goes with that trap speed.
The reaction time has nothing to do with your ET, that's just how long it takes you to hit the pedal and start the timer after the green light drops... If you were competing, you should be shooting for as close to a .500 reaction time without going over, a .240 R/T would be a red light and you'd be disqualified.

Make sure your black air dam isn't tripping the track's beams at the starting line. I have read a few people have this problem.
Did you leave it in "D" when you raced?
Have you done a full tune-up lately? Some nice aftermarket plug wires would be a good idea. Get some headers!!

Make sure your car is tuned. I have seen stock L98 go 14.3 but mid 14s are common.Just want to make sure, but are you sure its not a 305TPI. If your sure its a 350TPI then i would do a tune up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor, check timing etc.) But with a 94mph you should be running faster then 15.1 even if your 60ft was a 2.2.How many miles are on the motor?

How did it take until the 5th post in this thread to mention that a .240 reaction time is downright awful? That's a .740 on the old .500 light system. The IHRA (and I believe the NHRA also) went from .500 being a perfect light ona sportsman tree to a .000 being perfect either last year or the year before...can't remember that far back.

Buut.... that doesn't have anything to do with the question at hand... why it wasn't running in the 14's like the trap speed says it should.

I'm quite aware of the new system, considering I work the starting line at PIR.
don't know when it went into effect though. I remember when I first starting working there in July i saw everyone running like .046's and the such and trying to figure out why the hell they weren't disqualified for breaking out. Back on subject, how well was the track prepped? That could make a world of a difference in your ET.

I know for a fact that it is a 350. I do agree with my 60' time being high. I am pretty sure it is because of the tire pressure in my left rear being low causing me to spin. Also, I just realized that I had it in OD. Does that make a difference? I am putting on my shortys this weekend with new plugs and wires? However, I am going back to the track this wednesday to try to improve on my times. I hope that I do alot better.

Actually lowering your rear tire pressure will gain you more traction off the starting line causing less tire spin and it shouldn't matter whether you were in OD or not, because the 700r4 will not shift into OD at WOT. You did mention that you had tire spin though, maybe you just got on the gas a little to hard off the line? Practice makes perfect.

true. practice does make perfect. Although I thought that on street tires it wasn't good to lower your tire pressure???? I think it was too low though. As I said it is all in trial and error and I will hopefully have a better run on Wed. We will see. I did forget to mention that I had my torque converter locked up. I know that with me trapping at 95 mph, that I should be in the low 14s. I hope that I do better this week.

nothing wrong with a 15.1.. all you need to get your mid 14's is TRACTION.. hit a 1.9ish 60ft and there you have it..

Id go with atleast 32 psi in those tires. A good stall headers and tpi port work wil really wake that ol' tpi up.

My tires are bald so I think that I will have problem getting traction. I know it is capable of getting low 14s. The motor only has about 25000 miles on the rebuild so it is strong. TRACTION TRACTION TRACTION!!! Does anyone have a good launching technique? I hope that tomorrow I atleast break the 14 barrier.

I don't know about anyone else but with my pro-built 700r4 I run about .2 tenths faster in the 1/8 mile on average when I shift myself.Thats if I don't shift to late and hit the 6000rpm rev limit on the msd.I don't have a computer though.manual overdrive lockup switch.

Wait until you get new tires and a tune up or your probalbly not going to run much faster.I wouldn't run less then 25PSI on street tires anyways unless it was a Drag radial or slick.

my friend who is an idiot, ran 15psi on a 16" rim with low-pro tires.. in his intergra of course.. jsut regular street tires.. you could see the rims spinning in the tire.. that bastard still pulled off a 14.9.. as for launching your car, do a little preload at the line.. nothing wild, just brake and give a little gas to bring the rpm's up.. then roll into the throttle as you gain speed.. there is a fine line where you can give so much gas and still have traction.. find it and you will get to 14's.. you want to be at the point right before you lose traction all the way till you can floor the throttle.. thats about all i can advise.. its a trick but if you can get it down, you will be amazed.. lol Thread Starter

Your mph is way high.
You 60' isn't as good as it could be
track conditions change mph and e.t.'s greatly
mine ran low 15's with a plug wire hanging off

Well I went to the track last night and I didnt do much better. I had three runs and all of them were 15.0**. I do believe that it is traction. consistent 2.1 60' times. We will see after the tune up this weekend........

i dont kno man i had just as bad 60 foot and mananged a 14.4 with 2.77 gears and just full exhaust. Id do a tune up and run stock pressure in the tires i ran 25 and i think it greated too much drag by the time i got past 1/8 mile.

How much better do you expect your 60' times to improve? Your just useing street tires right? You sure the tranny isn't shifting in to OD? What RPM is your tranny shifting at? Did you do a tune up yet and check timing? Is your cat clogged? I can't believe your running slower then my 305 with the same 60' times? You got the MPH and a decent 60' time on street tires, so what the hell?

I think it is wierd too. I have no cats. I am so angry. I know I should be running low 14s. I did check my timing. It was advanced to like 13* BTC. I put it back at factory 6* but I think I am gonna put it at like 10*. Im doing plugs and wires this weekend. I go every wednesday so I hope to see an improvement next week. I don't know what else to do....

I need to go back to the track and see what the headers and exhaust and different gears have done for me.
I ran a 15.2 @ 93mph with 4.10 gears, stock manifolds and a cat.
I now have 3.42's (broke the 4.10's) hooker shorties and a Borla Muffler.
Approx 170K miles are on my motor.

Hey dude, I just noticed that Your mph dropped a couple since Your last outing. Even though Your et did slightly decrease.... Did you do anything different during Your runs? Was the weather crappier?

Actually, It was a little warmer than the last time i went. I also reset the timing back to 6* btc. It was a 13* btc last time.
