HSR L98 vs Bolt on LT1

Went to the track with my buddy who has a 95 Z28 with full exhaust and some suspension work. stock auto trans with 3.42 LS1 rear end just like mine.

He was doing 13.6x, 13.54, 13.42 all around 102... getting better as the night cooled off and he figured out how to launch the car. He is on street tires with a 60 foot around 1.98-2.01. Not bad for a 170K mile LT1!! heavy full weight car too
For those that dont know i was consistent 13.5's and then 13.49 at 98-99 but with 2800 stall and slicks!! haha

Finally we get a chance to line up at the track after waiting 3 hrs for them to clean up oil on the track, then a rain delay, then another car broke something.

All we had to do was wait for a few more slick cars to run and we'd race. BUT NO!! Another guy blows up and leaves oil on the track and down the return road, oil everywhere....so that kills the night at midnight!!

So we take it to the streets. figured it was gonna be a good race as he just filled up the tank and brought his buddy along who probly weighs 170ish.

we go from a 45-50 roll or so. I 3 honk it and get a slight jump. stall flashes and helps me creep ahead but the pull stopped and stayed even for a few seconds. Then he comes crawling past me with that SLP loudmouth screaming into my window!! Wow is that car loud! very fun run tho but kinda scary on ET streets. that car starts to feel rough at near 100mph on those tires so i shut down. Fun times but he got me. i need more mods. Lt1's are alot stronger than most ppl think

here is a cell phone shot of us lined up at the track right before we left since it got canceled from breakdowns

I agree, those loud mouths are loud. I know a cocky guy that has one and can hear it idle half a block away...

Those are very good times for a stockish LT1 on steet tires for sure. Is he sure there's not a bit more done that he doesn't realize?

Re: HSR L98 vs Bolt on LT1

nope, as far as we know its only a mild bolt on LT1. He bought it pretty much bone stock cept for flowmaster exhaust. a buddies 6 speed Z28 ran low 13's at 104 with similar mods

a 350 L98 HSR is a L98 motor minus the TPI setup, and now with holley stealth ram or HSR lol

i wouldnt say VERY good... maybe more like good to average

my GF has a 94' Formula without headers, but other than that it has similar mods to the above mentioned LT1 car, and it runs 13.2s at 103-104mph. its got about 130k on the clock as well. even in the summer heat it was good for consistant 13.4s at 102mph

and a friend of mine had a 95' 6speed Z28, and with only a LT4 knock module and a SLP loudmouth went 13.5 at 104mph

LT1s are very strong runners straight out of the factory. for some reason they are severly unrespected. most dyno somewhere between 260 & 270 rwhp stock

Another friends car (94 Formula) with a catback and air filter thru the stock auto put down 262whp. my car did 246whp lol. LT1's are strong
