Slicks are made just for drag racing only. Thats all they are for and do it better that DOT tires. The side walls wrinkle to launch you forward, different compounds for different types of conditions, solid flat foot print, much lighter for rotating mass, no steel in them. A single purpose tire.

My et streets are a DOT style slick but they hook damn good. You technically need them to be considered a street car at my track. I only use them to drive to the track and back but to run in the "street" car lanes at my track you need a DOT style tire or else you have to go to the slick lanes
there are guys in the 8's on drag radials too so as long as your suspension tuning is down, you'll be fine with any sticky tire. My vote is for a ET street or ET slicks

Re: best drag tires?
I always used M/T on my race car, but the most important thing I think is to get them as fresh as you can the rubber will age and get harder. New slicks are soft and sticky. Some of the guys I know ran Hoosier's also and liked them. Like anything you'll pick based on what you like best over time. If you get as hooked on drag racing as I was you'll need many sets to test. I used BG goodrich drag radials on my street car (don''t last long) a lot easier not changing wheels and tires in the pits on the street car. But I think you ask whick was best for strip, I took at face value as in best ET at the 1/4 mile.

Re: best drag tires?
hoosier, mickey thompson, goodyear are the 3 top ones, I prefer the Hoosiers but the good years I hear can run lower pressure and remain stable on the big end.
