Me, against BMW

Will a slightly modded 355 auto formy be able to take on a 02 M3 or will I get walked on. His car is stock but I do get a quite a bit of wheel spin out of the hole. What does an m3 run in the quarter?

mid to low 13 for the m3.

Slightly modded 355 doesn't tell us a thing. Full exhaust? What cam, what heads? carb tpi...how are we suppose to guess that. You didn't even give us the year car you have.

The M3 will make arouind 330 hp, run mid to low 13's like stevo said. to compare you better at least have around that in hp.

Re: Me, against BMW

i was beating one in my 06 xterra (265HP, 285Tq; 6 speed manual) street light to street light (1/4 mile stretch), but after that he blew me away in top end. Then again i had 33.5" tires, 3inch lift, 1/4" steel skid plates covering the entire underside of the car, brush guard, and lights and tire on the roof. Guy was hitting the gears pretty cleanly too, i was suprised.

Re: Me, against BMW

yes, lol. I assumed something was wrong with the car till i met him at the gas station later. Positive it was an M3 though. They are quick though, the guy probably just can't drive for crap. My point is that it comes down to driver too...if the guy's experienced you might have problems but he still hasn't said anything else about his car other than it's got a 355....no gears, no induction system, is the tranny got the stock stall? Rebuilt at all?...what you got?!

Re: Me, against BMW

I raced him and beat him. I have raced a couple of people on this board and I just wanted to get an idea of what an m3 runs. He got me of the line but by second gear, I was a nose in front, game over, I win.

Re: Me, against BMW

I really need to get some suspension because I had both wheels roasting coming out of the hole. That sucks. I don't know how come they are so fast out of the hole but from a dead stop to about 40, they will beat a third gen unless the third gen is boosted. Pretty damn quick, still need LCAS and TQ arm and then it would be better. Our cars are supposed be good out of the hole but we leave the line spinning. Watch out for m3's because unless you got good mid range power, they will beat you.

Re: Me, against BMW

well if your spinning really bad out of the hole then its not the car its probably you... you can't always just stomp it and exspect traction.

Re: Me, against BMW

Traction on the street is marginal at best and if your car has some ***** you have to be gentle off the line unless you have the suspension sorted out and a decent tire on it.

Re: Me, against BMW

I wish it was easier to grab off the line. I'd like to lift the front wheels off the ground.

what tire are you running? If its just some street tire well then theres your problem.

Its not rocket science. Oh and BTW your not going to be doing too much front wheel lifting on the street.

Re: Me, against BMW

With my own eyes Ive only seen 3 cars that could lift the wheels on the street and one doesnt really count because it was on a dead end road where the guy lived and it was paved nicely and he put down track bite on it and there wasnt much air under the tires same with the other two not much lift more or less just a little pop up of the front wheels. That story you hear about the wheel stand at the stoplight or you know that charger from F&F thats all a myth doesnt happen at least Im not goin to belive it until I see it with my own two eyes.

Re: Me, against BMW

You could have the best set up car, it doesn't matter. The street your on dictates everything. Sand, debris, pot holes, you will not lift anything on a street like that!
