91 GTA vs 87 Corvette

A couple years ago my uncle got the itch for an older vette. He was the proud owner of an 87 tpi, 700r4. He decided the motor was not running 100% so had his motor rebuilt with the promise of 325hp (on motor). With the only mods flowmaster cat back and 1.6rr. wow! I said ur builder is selling u dreams, u might be at 250hp... So the while the motors in the shop hes all excited about racing my 91 gta l98. I was also excited to find someone close to me with a similar car. So hes talking smack about smokin my firebird,(AND LAYING IT ON THICK), Im just listening and saying it sould be a good race. LOL.

About a year later ( still have not raced ) I see him driving. We line up at a light. Looks at me smiles and laughts, I look at him and laught too. ( My cars full of crap cuz of moving extra 250lbs) I foot break it and just sit there spinning. Hes gone! but i get traction and start pulling hard on him. hit third gear and passing him!

basically its a stock l98 with a stealthram intake, headers, flowmaster, coolant bypass, smoge delete, cold air intake, shift kit, and a pcm for less tune.

Kind a funny that he thought he could just buy a corvette and just beat any car on the road. Cuz my car is not that fast like 14seconds in da 1/4 maybe high 13s.

Gotta love the smack talk!

Good kill.

He needs a reality check, he has a stock motor with minimal mods...his car isn't that fast.

you should be faster than low 14s/high 13s if you pulled on your uncle. TPI C4 Vettes are typically that fast stock. i had an 89' that would run 13.9 at 99mph 100% unmodded

I would say high 13s would not be out of the question. I have never been to the track. I guess im waiting to build it up a little... 3:73 gears are on my list for next season.

I got beat by a stock LS1 Z28 it was even up to second gear (lol) then he just pulled away. That extra 1000 plus rpms is awsome. Wow ive raced alot of stangs but this was my first *** kicking by an LS1. Those things pull nice and HARD!

I have heard that you should not Siamese that lower intake. You may not like that very much.

No, but you should only do it after everything else has been opened up on the intake. How much you siamese into the manifold does have an affect on tuning.
