LT1 ThirdGen Vs LS1 ForthGen

My car vs. the local LS1

My car: http://www.fquick.com/garages/Pontia..._Am/1986/5694/

1986 Trans Am
350 LT1, built 4L60E, 3600 Stall, Some weight reduction but weight added for bigger swaybars and brakes, 17x9.5's with new 275/40 Riken Raptor(Same specs as Nitto 555 but might not be as good as Nitto 555's), 3.73s, Lower Control Arm Relocation brackets, Subframe connectors, Hooker shorties with hooker catback, computer tuned but not dyno tuned, guessing the weight to be in the low 3500's with driver, mid to high 3300's without driver. The suspension in it is more for handling rather than drag racing.

The opponent:
2001 Trans Am
LS1, T56, Lightweight flywheel, new clutch?, 150,000 miles but was driven by a grandma for 140,000 miles, not WS6, 3.42 gears? maybe 3.23s, corsa or lingenfelter catback stainless exhaust with stock manifolds, 16x8's, New Nitto 555R drag radials - 245's, weighs 3500 without driver, 3680 with driver.

Just wondering if I stand a chance in a race. The guy is a friend of mine but is a little cocky.

You definitely stand a chance. The torque that are cars (LT1's) will help you on the take off. Although, LS1's pull very hard. It will depend on how well you friend can drive a stick.

From my experience I can definitely keep up with an stock LS1 w/ exhaust. Never raced one from a stand-still always rolling about 40mph.

Re: LT1 ThirdGen Vs LS1 ForthGen

So a LT1 in a 3rdGen with full-exhaust and stall vs. a high-mileage LS1 M6 with cat-back and drag radials? I think you will get a car or two until about 100mph and then he is going to reel you in quickly.
BTW, all M6 LS1s are 3.42 from the factory and most LS1 4thGens are about 3450lbs depending upon options.

from a stand still u, from a roll him... the stand still race could be close if hes a real good driver but those are hard to come by...all in all it would be a good race...who ever wins wont do it by much unless the other guy just cant drive for ****...
