So my boss just got his hands on a 2010 camaro v6. we were talking and he really wants to race me. So what am i in for? any of you run with one? as far as i know its all stock. My car has the following. Gmmg exhaust, hedman headers, msd ignition system, high flow cat, Pro built 700r4 with steel bands and clutches and vette servo, transgo shift kit, my car runs very smooth and is running great.

you should dominate him pretty good from a stop as long as you dont spin to much. you have an bigger y-pipe correct? If not you will probaly need it as the rest of your exhaust setup should be very well flowing.

Gonna be kinda close. Your lighter, but is V6 came stock with 305hp. 89 GTA 350 had 225hp/305 had 190hp. Since an Auto robs more hp than Manuals, your car is alraedy "robbed" of more hp tan a T5 would (don't take it wrong...I have a 700R4 & love it).
Have your mods gotten you roughly 60-70hp? Since your lighter, you won't need as much hp as him, but you better get your launch right.

I raced a new camaro in my 99 trans am ls1/auto car. The chick said it was a V8 car but it didnt run like one nor sound like one when I did hear it. So I think it was a V6. I wouldnt think my TA could take down an SS. I waxed it pretty good from a 35 roll with her getting the jump and my 99 isnt that fast but faster than a bolt on L98. I tried to stop a fly by by her when she started a car length back and her bumper was on my cars nose. I couldnt catch her, so its a decently quick V6 but even up rolls, I pulled away fairly smoothly and quickly. Being that I had a L98 and ran a few LSx cars and Lt1 cars, I would describe the race with the V6 camaro and my 99 TA similar to how my L98 ran against LS vehicles. So the L98 and V6 2010 should be closely matched.
I been in my friends V6 car and it felt smooth and decently quick but not as torquey as the L98 I had. They are suppose to run low 14's and trap mid 90's so its going to be a close race with a bolt on L98

I did some research on the 5thgen V6s when I was thinking of buying one as a DD. The fastest bone stock time I found was a 14.7 at 94mph. There'd probably some room for improvement, but I'd say about even with a stock L98
with your bosses car being stock, and you having some good exhaust mods, I'd say you have this one

Be sure youre car is 100%, Go from a stop, MAKE SURE it hooks well. And keep the race fairly short. It should be good. Id say video it, but why add the weight of a passenger in a street fight.
Launch on him with that L98,i see you putting 2-3 on him out the gate but he will be reeling you in but you should get the win

out the passenger with video camera in his car
I have drove the V6 cars and they seemed like they was decently quick(about like my l98 was stock)
I got in a battle with my 11.80 Iroc and a 2011 LS7 6 speed car with exhaust and headers other minor bolt ons...
30 roll he ate my *** to 145

you better have a perfect launch, because those new camaros do have traction control, so they dont slip, my neighbor says with it on, his SS will only slip for a fraction of a second then the wheels catch and hes gone

If it's anything like the traction control in my two LS1s was, it is useless as a drag racing tool. It retards the power, applies the brakes intermittently to the rear axle, and literally pushes the gas pedal back against your foot. If you make the mistake of leaving it on at the track, the car will fall flat on its face. Traction control is designed as a driving aid for snow, nothing more.
In just about every magazine road test, the traction control is turned off for the best performance.
There are some very expensive new cars that do have a "launch control" feature built into the traction control - floor the gas, let off the brake and the car does the rest - but I don't think the Camaro is one of them.
