Big Surprise
So I was out for a cruise after just having my 305 swapped for an L98 and TKO 5speed Tranny. I did it up right with performance heads, cam, etc. Needless to say feeling pretty good and faster than ever. I was stuck behind a long line of traffic doing prolly 45-50 mph, so when a passing opportunity came I went for it. Down to 3rd gear and foot on the gas. Cars dissapeared beind me, but as I look in the mirror there is a Dodge Ram not 2 feet from my rear bumper. So I, thinking all Dodge Ram owners are doooooooshes, decide to show this guy whose boss. Down to 2nd gear and power through 3rd and 4th. Easily doing 100+ I look in my mirror again. HE'S STILL RIGHT BEHIND ME!!!! By this time I'm passed all the cars I had originally set out to pass so I pulled out of the passing lane just in time to see the Ram blow past me.........with SRT-10 written on the quarter panel.

Re: Big Surprise
What type of aftermarket heads? And what cam? Also what else is done to the motor?
The srt-10 on its best day sees a 13.5 quarter mile. Its quite a heavy monster with allot of power weighing in at 5200 lbs.
Maybe take a look at your rear end, a set of 3.73s or 4.10s might better suit your application.
A built L98 should have run with this guy a little better but it all depends on the heads and cam you have in there.

Re: Big Surprise
My buddys dad had an SRT10 those things are rediculous. A friend of mine has a Ford Boss pickup procharged and compltly forged internals along with a never used nitrous setup it will blow the doors off most cars. And then I recommend looking out for most cummins. I passed one last year in a place that was legal but would **** most ppl off if you did it and I had that truck basically bouncin off of my bumper at 100mph+.

Had a guy in my neighborhood try me with a SRT10 truck, i made him look bad, but i am sure as usual, he assumed i had a 305 or 350 as most dumbasses think.

Re: Big Surprise
Correction, he assumed you had a typical stock third gen... haha
Most ppl do..... All the rice in my area used to pick fights with me, now that i have beaten most of them not that many mess with me anymore.... Now its Cadillacs and Rams/Silverados(diesels), BMWs, and GTOs and vettes and other F-bodies, etc. They are much more fun to play with... Supreme Member

Re: Big Surprise
Amazing hw many trucks feel like trying their luck with a car with a 4 inch hood, and noisy as hell.

Re: Big Surprise
well that seems to be what most stocker cars have, an big cowl with an noisy exhuast, hard to tell the diffrence between something that needs it and one that is trying to look/sound tough.

Re: Big Surprise
They are quick trucks, though I've never seen one out of the 13's at the local track.
And yea, I love whejn people assume you have a lowly 170 HP V8 and think they can shat all over you. Hit the go pedal though and make them really think about it the next time they want to mess with a 3rd gen! Can't say my car will be a sleeper when it's done being bright metallic orange with 18" wheels, but I'm sure there will still be a fair share of clap boxes trying thier luck with my "3rd gen."

Re: Big Surprise
ya i agree, just because somethin only runs a 13 in the 1/4 doesnt mean it dont run like a raped ape down the highway, i mean my camaro isnt fast in the 1/4 but it'll haul down the highway and by the sound of the op's story he was goin down the interstate, highway hauling and 1/4 mile hauling are two totally different games, ask any salt lake racer what his car runs in the 1/4.

Re: Big Surprise
True, my car goes 8.0s in the 1/8th mile but on the street where everyone has traction issues, it is a whole different game, my trap speed suggest i should be going 7.4 or faster but guess what, i didnt build a track car, i built a street bruiser.
