what kind of 1/4 times can I expect from one of these cars? how much horsepower did these 6.6 litres choke out from underneath all the emission equipment? the reason is because there is some guy at school that thinks the car is the fastest on the planet because his engine is 6.6 liters. I have an '89 IROC that will soon hold a 300 horse 327ci engine. I want to race him when my new engine goes in but I wanted to know what he could do. The T/A is all original.
Most likely it is the 180hp and 350tq 6.6liter engine.what does it say on the shaker hood.if it says 6.6 TA it is 220 horse do to bumped up comp.They are slow,your car will smoke it

Stormshadow is right. They are dogs, I raced one when my LG4 was bone stock and even though he came off the light faster than me (i bogged), i still managed to pass him and stay about 1/2 length ahead of him all the way up to 100 mph when we let off. Your 327 will walk all over him. I don't know what you have now, I assume it's a 305, which would currently waste him if it's in decent shape.

If the T/A is stock your 327 should rip him one but if he has modified it they can be real trouble I know I have one they are huge torque monsters but, if he has the olds 403 under the hood I cannot say but I know they were real dogs from the factory. Now a good running T/A 6.6 form the factory would pull a high 14 low 15 I am not sure what kind of times you are putting up with the 305 but there is a reference for you. Good luck
Guys, remember when someone tell you its all stock or original doesnt mean it is. In highschool a duddy of mine went through a lot of cars, he once had a 78 TA 400 4-spd, 355 gears, for about 3 months. The car was all stock except for a performer intake and a holley carb. I went for a ride with him one time cuz he was talking about how well the car ran, sure'nuf when he hit it from a roll the thing was side-ways in 1st and second and pulled good in third too. To me it felt like a solid mid 13sec car. Back then
we both had low 14sec cars and the TA felt much stronger. Lots of midrange torque!
