82 LU5/200C vs. 93 Hyundai Scoupe Turbo.....Who Is Champion In The End??
82 LU5/200C vs. 93 Hyundai Scoupe Turbo.....Who Is Champion In The End??
Now, this I will be kicking myself in the rumpus area if I lose.
My buddy wants to drag his 93 Scoupe Turbo with my 82 LU5. He has some nice mods on his car(more psi. boost, exhaust headers, K&N, etc.) and all I have is my right foot....
. The final question: Who will win?
Tune in next week on Comedy Central as we see a Hyundai possibly beat a Trans Am....!

Well, its over! The LU5 wins once again!
Like I said, he has some pretty serious mods on his Korean car, like Cold Air Intake box, a meaty exhaust system, plus some interior weight loss. I must say, its a built up Hyundai! But, as with all rice burners, the torque figure is laughable. He's pushin 170hp but his torque is down like 133lb-ft. The 82 LU5 was 165hp, but 240lb-ft, and torque is what really matters, right?
Well, we were going to go to the dragstrip, but we both couldn't wait. We got out onto Route 206 in Southampton where its one of the two-laned stretches. We were itchin to go. I shifted down to '1', and hoped that the TH200C would hold up after years of abuse. As it turned out, I got a few chirps off the line, mainly because the road surface is rippled there
. Oh yeah, I turned my headlights off and flipped my driving lights on to improve aerodynamics. Anyway, i had him in first gear but my tach was furiously climbing up to 5000, so I shifted into second and it actually did a redline shift(I shifted at 4500 and it stayed in 1st until 5000). I was pullin in second gear and third gear. He was pissed! We knew of another two lane stretch, and it was longer so we went up to Springfield where it was. It was pretty much the same, but the first part is a slight uphill and a more sharp drop on the other side. he was pullin downhill, but I got him on the flat straight. We both decided that we were a long way from home, and we called it a night. I guess spending $1400 on a Hyundai doesn't pay off, especially because I paid $900 for my T/A. But, this wasn't fun. I want to get some major mods and hunt some 302s down......heh heh heh
