say you stripped a dodge viper engine out of a viper and stuck it in a 92 camaro and gave it a new drive train and transmission so it could take the power, could the car hit 200 mph. i know the engine has enough power, but could the car take it, what about a 81 corvette. just looking for answers, i'm being serious and want to know how fast a 92 camaro could get going, provided with the right parts

I have a magazine with a 200 MPH camaro in it. The aerodynamics of the camaro is very good. It has a very low drag coefficient of 0.37 to 0.38. I don't know the coefficient of lift. The one in the mag has a cup motor in it, tubed chassis, independant rear with a belly pan that looks like it's off a ferrari. The belly pan is the reason for it's success as this allows for stability and negative lift (downforce).I will try to find the article and post it so you can find it. the car is out of Atlanta and he SCCA races it.

First of all, the viper motor is a boat anchor for 488 cubic inches (only 450hp).

Second of all, it won't fit and if it does, it would be a PITA to work right.

Third, why would you want to put a Dodge motor in a Chevy?

The fact of the matter is that you can build a 383 or 406 and drop it in a Camaro/Firebird and be a 200mph car with ease. Takes about 450-500hp in a stock bodied third gen, less if you massage it aerodynamically. The CD is around .32, not .37 - a 1988 Stang GT is around .37 or so. A 1981 Vette has really bad aerodynamics, with a tenedency to get a lot of front end lift at speed.

hehe.. im actually building my camaro right now to pass the 200 mph mark. its getting a 500 hp 620'ish tq 406. and im changing my gearing so i can reach it. it will have a 700R4 in it, but again , the gears and rear end *3.42* will be changed. im just trying to find the right ones so i still have good 1/4 mile times yet enough gearign to get me to 200 mph. ill keep the board posted. but the car doesnt get all of its stuff till sept 17th.

Dumperbird,

350, 305, what's the difference. I tell people its a 305 all the time, just don't specify what order the 3 - 0 - 5 comes in the engine size.

They never made a 350LG4.
