my friend has a 3.1liter F-1 camaro, he's got a k&n air filter also, what are some of the 3.1's weakpoints? i really would like to know so when i race him in my 2.8 i can outrun him by knowing his car better than he know's his car

 

LOL, I have raced some auto 2.8Ls in my 5-speed 3.1L and its sad. Especially at 50mph+. Good luck buddy and hope either you both are an automatic or you are a manual and he is an automatic. If he is a 5-speed watch out. (that is if he can race well)

here is what you do, go find the craziest cam you can get and get a stall. traction shouldnt be a problem for you, get a k & n, exhaust and all that stuff then race him. maybe then you might have a chance.

 

If you are going to pull the motor, then just get a 350 out of a scrapyard and mod it when you have the money. Why put any amount of money into a car that will still be slow when you are done? To answer the original question, I know a great deal about v6 weak points. They go as follows; 1000 rpms, 2000 rpms, 3000 rpms, 4000 rpms, 5000 rpms, half throttle, full throttle, etc, etc, etc.

 

race him with the truck, you should take him with that. I know when i had the old 305 tbi, i could just barely take our 4.8l 4x4 chev, off the line i got creamed, but it also has 3.73s whereas i only had the 2.73's at that time.
