advice for track...launching

I hear guys always say stock 305's have no trouble with wheel spin...I do however, i made a huge cloud of smoke today with out touching the brakes. My tires are worn out, REAL bad... but i'm not getting new ones on till next spring, b/c my snow tires are going on real soon...
Anyways, i've only raced on the street, with traction problems, but tommorow i'm going to the track. Can you guys give me tips for launching and everything else, my car is in the sig, and i have bald tires...
THANKS,
mike
btw, what should i be running?

just try to launch at a little above idle like 1500-2000 rpm's

i don't see why people say 305's don't have problems with traction i get a good bark in 3rd with my 3.08 gears

With good tires I launch at about 2200-2500 rpms. I come off the clutch quickly and then quickly roll into the throttle.

You should probably lower your rpms from mine a few hundred due to your tires.

I won't be doing this till next spring now, it's broken
