Okay, I understand the new M3 is fast, heck, for that price I'd have a 2002 Zo6 vette and smoke em all the way. Anways, the reason I think it's funny is that guy says he didn't start to pull on the guy until he got to about 100mph. In my book, he lost, consider that a kill for the camaro yes no? I don't know about you guys but going more than 100mph for a street race isn't worth the jail time. I have a feeling this guy just kept going and the camaro started to let off the gas a little. Anybody else see that or is it just me? I just don't see how he considers it a "kill" if he got smoked all the way up to 100mph!!! lol
Oh well, heck, did I say I would buy a new Zo6...yeah, and still have over $15,000 to spend on stuff like larger wheels, N2o, and whatever else I was in the mood for
.
I'm not hating on the BMW M3, that's one NICE car, but I think most of the drivers are punks or rich kids that never got into a fight in prep school.
Speaking of BMWs and drivers, what's the difference between a BMW and a porkypine?

I see he brought up the technology issue lol... Those BMW's were made for the autobahn, not drag racing, they really show their stuff in the higher mph range. 1/4 race, the Camaro would have won.

I like this post the best:
I was travelling down an interstate highway with the top down around 10:00 pm one night. A Camaro SS comes up from behind and pulls up right next to me. At this point, we're both travelling 70 MPH. We start to intimidate each other by disallowing the other to pull ahead. Finally, he takes off. Thinking that he left in the dust, I down shift to third gear around 75 MPH, which is 7500 RPM (The ratio of speed and RPM in third gear is 1:100; 50 MPH is 5000 RPM) My car which was very well broken-in has only a 4-cylinder engine. You would think that a Camaro with its V8 would kick my *** . Then again, it's an American V8, and that's what the driver of the Camaro forgot. I cooked him. When the V-TEC kicks in, it sounds horrifically powerful and it is. I caught him at a moderate rate, and then passed him. We were both peddle-to-the-meddle. I could tell because I could smell his exhaust on the way to victory. When all was said and done, I must have been travelling in excess of 130 MPH.
Does anyone else think this screams ***** flyby? The driver forgot it's an american V-8 and that's why his "horifically powerful sounding v-tec" won right? He had to be behind him when he flew by because he could "Smell the exhaust." On the highway? At 130 mph? ROFLMAO He knew they were racing because he could smell the exhaust. Sounds like he needs to lay off the crack pipe. Ricers are so funny.

It's funny but when you let OFF the gas you can usually smell the exhaust....hmmm...it does sound like he's making up another story.
These guys just don't get it, the 1/4 mile IS an accurate and viable way to measure performance. Did you read about the guy who says "1/4 isn't everything, come into the corners with me and we'll see how you do
" what!?!!?!, lol, the camaro will destroy the BMW with a performance suspension.
It's just funny to see how these guys try to be so different. They try SO hard and then find out that there are hundreds of people just like them. So to be different they need a huge spoiler and some nice rims. Then they find out that everybody else has those rims and spoilers. So they go on to making up kill stories and how their engine pulls so strong etc. It's like they're playing a game of "try and convince everybody I didn't waste my money on just another import." Or maybe it's just a small ***** problem, I don't know. I'm happy with bang for buck as long as it doesn't require only 4 cylinders and some kind of power adder.
I'm glad to see one thing, that BMW and all the other smart autos are still pushing the inline 6. Did you see the new ratings about the vortec 4200 inline 6 that makes 270hp! It's been rated faster than the ford explorer v8 and the dodge darango v8! Only edged out by the Jeep limited, that's in the 1/4! Man oh man, finally GM did something cool. They made it cheap too
. I just hope there is still room for improvement

I think we should feel sorry for these poor BMW/Honda owners...
They've never had the rocket off the line thrill of a V8. I think that they looked up the wrong word in the dictionary... I don't know how you would mistake "kill" for "***** flyby", but I think we should make an effort to show them the light LOL.
I don't know what that guy in the Camaro must think of himself.
If the M3 were gaining on him the entire time up to 100 MPH, thats a good 14 sec or so that he was accelerating slower than the SS. If that were the 1/4 the punk
in the M3 would be handing over the pink slip.

Those Bimmer guys have consumed an image fed to them by the media and advertising about BMW's. We all know how people who drive bimmers are portrayed in movies, and we've all seen the commericals. They all want to fit that image. Then they make excuses like "our cars our more durable blaa blaa blaa, they last forever, blaa blaa blaa" Yea, I hope so for $60,000!!! I remember when i was 16 i first realized how much my parents made. I asked my mom "You could buy a BMW or mercedes why do you drive a camaro(v-6)?" she said "I don't feel the need to impress our neighbors, i'm happy with my car." I'll never forget that.
You could buy a viper for around the price of a M3 and spank the living he1l out of that bimmer.
Look around that board. It's people with old bimmers trying to be like the people with brand new bimmers who are trying to portray an image to the world even though they have a small wee-wee. paaaaaaaathetic. Some people go through life spend their money on vacations, having fun, art, knowledge, enjoying life. Others go through life over achieving and spending $$$$ trying to compensate for their lack of a man hood.

ha! good point! S2000's are good for their value because they're nimble, quick little cars. in the 1/4 they're actually low 14 second cars. that guy is a liar. hey did you guys notice the sig's on that site?? i think that says something too... .
LET THE BODIES HIT THA FLOOR!
Crazy BMW owners. I like how they all have YUPPIE signatures, talking about their fog lights.
Yeah a 325 horse SS is gonna be afraid of a 3 series BMW. It might as well have been a BMX.
Whywhywhy? Why must everybody hate American iron? I'm not even American, and I know where its at.

I had a race with an older BMW at the toll plaza for the NJ Turnpike going north. I was on my way to Atco. This guy had the M-stickers, I believe M-5, and Cunningham racing on the side. We raced twice, the first time I just hit it in overdrive and he barely pulled on me to about 135. Then we did it again, this time I downshifted and got the turbo working earlier. It was dead even all the way up maybe 145. Then we slowed down and stopped on the side of the road and talked. He was modded quitea bit and I was still stock with just a chip. He was impressed and said that was the first f-body that stayed with him. We both went on our way at this time and as we pulled back on the highway I saw a radar trap about a 1000 feet from where we stopped. (lucky for both of us.) I went to Atco and ran 12.70's all day long. The driver was very cool, we were about the same age (45) so there was no young ***** attitude there.

They look stupid, they give all BMW guys a bad name. It's just pathetic looking at boards like that. Absolutely no tech or reality involved. The way you say something is like twice as important as the info and facts provided. I'll bet money that there are a few of them that do NOT actually have what they say they do, instead, it's there fathers car or something. I noticed this when I look at how the reply to different questions, nothing adds up, it's always WAY off. Either they're dumb, don't have any idea what's going on, or they don't own a nice BMW. The guys that DO own nice BMWs don't talk like this, they don't talk about kills. The most they'll ever do is make a website and talk to their respectable friends at their respectable jobs!
It is a shame that they talk so much "smack" about american cars.
I will admit I find it a compliment when they compare something that costs 3 times as much and barely win or loose etc. That makes me feel good because I have invested almost 10K into my f-body and it's got a compitition stereo, almost all suspension work done, looks great, and barks 330hp through a true 3" slp tri-y exhaust system. All my friends have the utmost respect for me and actual ask ME what I think about blah blah. These guys have never talked with anybody with any real knowledge. They stay in a click with guys that have no clue what's what except that undercar neon looks "bitchn." It's true, they all are looking to fit in, I just wish they would step back and look at themselves from our shoes....they look stupid.

the first time i smoked him and he said he didnt have a good start...so the next time the person in his car calls and he leaves when he says "set" so i get on it and catch him by the time i hit second and then i pass him well i get about a car lenght on him and keep it until about 100 or so (dont really know cuz spedo only goes to 85)... so he finally starts to pull on me cuz it was my first time racing going that fast and i didnt know how to get it to go fast in overdrive without it downshifting and breaking stuff.....so im only doin like half throttle or less and he comes and barely passes me and then when we stop he is like man i killed you!!
i was sooo pissed!!!!
and he said that his car would kick my *** in the 1/4 mile too....i just laughed and said that i would beat him a hundered dollars i would beat him but he wouldnt take it.........man i coulda had 100 more dollars towards my new motor lol
