who will win?
who do you guys think would win this race. i have a 1968 ford galaxie with the origional 302 2bbl with only 97,000 miles. the only mods i have done to it is a glasspack, edelbrock free flow aircleaner,K&n,accel 8mm wires, accel coil,hi per flex fan. the stock hp is 210 and the stock touque is 300. my friends got a 1987 mercury gran marquis with the fi 5.0. his mods are a homeade dual exhaust, turbo mufflers,5.0 HO plentum,hi per flex fan,3:73 gears. there are a few more minor mods. in a quarter mile race who do you think would win?
I think you should win but it would be pretty close. He probably has 210-230 hp but weighs more. I would just watch out about posting a non-third gen race. I've seen bad things happen to others who have done so and I've only been on here a few months.
I think you got this one.
He may have a 3.73 but he also has a few extra pounds!

the '87 Merc 5.0 was pretty weak actually. The heads are small, the throttle body is small, the intake is small also. Unless he changed the lower intake also, the HO upper intake is useless. I believe the cam is also a flat tappet cam and not a roller cam. It's got some decent low end torque but stock the motor was only making about 170HP. A lot of people think the passenger car 5.0L V8 is the same as the HO 5.0L in the Mustangs and Mark VII...it's not.
My money is on your car

Yep, as I said before...you're friend's car would probably struggle to get out of the 16's if it even does that good. He's probably not making much more than 160 hp on a good day...see my previous post about all the differences in the HO and non-HO motor's.
