my 85 Z vs a 95 6cylinder stang

ok... my friend has a 95' V6 stang w/ a 5 speed. hes always talkin trash about 305s. i realize they arnt the best, but i think i will still walk him in a stop light race if i launch well. his car has headers, cold air induction, mac cat back, and 3.73 gear w/ posi. my car is bone stock w/ only 42k miles on it and running perfectly. i will admit that his car is ver quick for what it is but w/ my massive touque advantage i think hes still toast.

A bud of mine has a 95 stang with the 3.8.
Its a lot better than it used to be, belive it or not a single 40 series flowmaster and a open cone K+N really woke up its top end.

We've gone at it at stoplights before, and I'd put a more than a 1/2 carlenght on him by the time we got to the white lines on the other side. I'd usually then let off about 1/2 way throught 2nd cause i'd made my point by being 2 cars ahead, but lately since i've lost all my top end due to some problems he actually caught up to me and pulled ahead and stayed there till we let off at about 70. Not quite up by a car but still i was pissed! But keep in mind in this race, my car makes absolutely no power past 3500 RPMs, but still won't shift till past 4K at WOT. So that totally screwed me and thats when he caught up. Its ON once i get the valvesprings n seals fixed!

Now in your case you've got a better engine than me with like 1/3 my milage. He's got a 3.73 though, so i'm thinking off the line you'll still be ahead if you get traction but it wont be by as much. I think you'll still take him though overall, since you've got a good deal more power, especially torque.

Considering a '95 Stang GT is a 15 second car, I think you'll win.

weren't those V6 stangs rated at like 140 horsepower? The 200 horse 3.8 is pretty recent. i think you'll kill that little trash talker.

95 V6 Mustang = slow

with those mods, he's probably still a high 15/low 16 at best. They only had 140HP at best. The new ones are another story though at 193HP

Depends on a lot really.

I have seen stock 5-spd 94-95GT's pull 14.5-14.6's.....but then again I have seen other 95-95GT's pull 15.5's.

Depends on car and driver really.

Mustangs, to me, seem to be the hardest stick cars to launch. I've never driven a third gen stick, but the auto I did drive was much easier than my dads 5 speed stang (Duh). I've even had the oprotunity to try a 6 speed 2000 SS and that was easier to launch. I think that you will destroy the V6 stang and if the V8 has gears it would be a toss up. If he smokes the tires you'll win, if he bogs it, you'll win, if he spins, but keeps control, he'll take you. Racing depends so much on the driver that even knowing exact mods is hard to pick a winner, especially if the cars are comparable.

I thought the 94-95 V6 stangs had 160 Hp @ 4300? RPMs and 200 torque @ 2000. I could be wrong thats just what i remember reading.
