Heads up race!!! 86TA vs 92 RS
I just aquired a 86 TA 5.0 HO 5 speed 3.70 borg warner 9 bolt yesterday and i am looking to race a 92 RS 305 TBI Automatic with 3.70 gears, hedman headers, Msd 6AL box. The reason i am hesitant is because he ran my 89 RS 5 speed When it only had a harris chip, 3.73's. That race i blew him off the line and kept a half length until i hit third gear when we were dead even. My new TA seams to pull just as hard but lacks the crisp launch that my RS has. 2 hours ago i ran my TA with the G-meter and it ran a 9.63 1/8 mile will that be enough to beat a full bolt-on 92 RS or should i slap some bolt-ons and teach him a lesson?
The TA was treated to a complete tune up and a UMI suspension too.

Your '86 Trans Am w/5-speed should eat him alive if he isn't running a stall converter. As far as your new TA not being as "crisp" when it comes to the launch as your old RS was, that has much to do with how your carburetor is setup. Did you tune your secondaries? Which rods are you running? Where is your base timing? Where and when are you shifting...?

Dont let him beat you again. Mod that car with something to give you the advantage!

Re: Heads up race!!! 86TA vs 92 RS
I am gonna put a healthy comp cam and a set of nitto drag radials out back. car suffers from excessive wheel spin when i try to launch it hard. If i am able to hook this clown will not stand a chance because his car wheel hops bad!!! He slapped in a nice 9 bolt with his stock bushings/control arms. His torque arm bushing and trans mount are the mushy rubber type lol! A week ago i raced him in my 89 RS and he claims i left early off the him off the line. My car quickly got out of the hole and kept a solid lead. This clown says that i took off early (which is a lie because my 89 leaves hard!!!)and i was in fourth gear winding out when he cought up to me. I am no genius but i was in 4th gear winding out which is way past the 1/4 mile RIGHT GUYS?!!! When i would run the 1/8 mile third gear is the farthest id go!!! I know my TA will rape him easily!!!
