Approximate HP??

I have a 1993 z28 hert. edition the block is out of a 1991 c1500 pick up truck. It is a 350 ci. Backed by a 78 c10 th350 and 3.73 gears. The motor is bored 40 with flat top pistons, it also has Erson hydraulic roller cams,
  • Duration @ .050:
    • 226/234
  • Lobe Center:
    • 108
  • Gross Lift:
    • .548/.533
  •
    • Vortec heads off of a 1998 k1500 5.7 that's at ported and polished with bigger springs. Also has heddman long tubes and Holley single plane with Holley 650. The timing is usually set between 2-6 degrees advance. (That's just where I prefer it)
I was wanting to know what your thoughts are on how much hp and tq. Along with wine 1/8 and 1/4 times. I'm not sure what the compression is and I'm also only running street tires. Thanks.

Re: Approximate HP??

It's always a guess when some of information is missing. Especially the compression ratio.
For what it's worth, the Vortec heads and a cam with 226 @ .050" should be capable of producing about 400chp.
My previous Vortec headed 350 with a 224 @ 050" HR cam (110 LSA) pushed my 3700 lb Camaro into the mid 12's at 107. Corrected ET was:12.45 @ 108.5 mph. 60' times were in the 1.7x range. Arguably that particular combination made about 375 hp. That's with a terrible single 3" exhaust and muffler in the stock location.
Get a little more information about your engine by way of a compression test. Compression ratio can be closely calculated in reverse with the right amount of data.
2-4 degrees of timing doesn't sound even remotely correct. Any properly built small block chevy (in this range of specifications) can easily handle (and want ) a lot more initial timing.

Re: Approximate HP??

You will probably just shred those street tires. I had to use a set of Nitto drag radials on my last GTA it had vortec heads and a lot weaker cam than what you are running. On street tires I couldn't get under a mid 14, after the Nittos 13.7s and still some wheelspin. You should probably be 375-400+ HP if tuned right. Im sure some more timing would help.

Re: Approximate HP??

i agree, tires will help a lot and getting your total timing sorted out.

i'm not good at guessing times, but took my car to the strip for the first time ever last week. 350, flat tops, 305 heads, dual plane intake, 268 hyd flat cam, th350, 3.73 gear, with slicks. ran 8.7 on motor. did a best 8.3 at 83 with 100 shot. 1/8 mile. might give you an idea of the ballpark your in? only one way to find out, lol.

Re: Approximate HP??

Just a guess. Small cam. No idea what the heads flow. For what it's worth I had that cam with Vortec heads and 350 CID. Low 13.25@100 MPH at about 3600lbs. Bigger cam put me into the 12's@106.
There are a few details missing but I would expect around 1 - 1.1 HP/CI. Call it just north of 400 chp.
