88 GTA vs 99 GT
88 GTA vs 99 GT
Hey guys!
Finally registered, Ok heres the thing , one of my friends dad ( whos a rich doctor) wants me to race my 88 GTA against his 99 Mustang GT. Thing is I know that win or lose i cant compete with his kind of money. Im a University student , gonna graduate in Computer Engineering in 2002 YA! but for now lets just say i count my pennies
Here are the stats on the arrogant GT:
Its the 35th Anni version Red and black.
the GT engine ( i think its the 4.6 modular rit?) 5 speed
For now all i know is that he has Gauges gallore, including that humengus tachshift light on the dash, 3.73 in the rear, K&n coldair kit, and subframes.
He ran at the track last spring and pulled only a 14.7 at 97mph
I dunno if the good doctor was just a first timer or if its the car?
Now mine : just in case my sig dont work
88 Flame Red GTA
350 TPI , auto heavyduty 700r4
3.42 in rear
Full 3" exhaust, with heddman coated headers
SLP cold airkit, air foil, power Helix, Ported plemium and runners + base, Comp Cam Xetreem /Street&Strip
Lots of polish aluminium under hood
Interior is stock with steering radio, digital dash, and 8 point Rollcage coated in black leather for good looks!
Race suspension and all poly urithane bushing and mounts.
Exterior is perfect factory look , just have a couple road chips
SO thx guys i would really like sum replys on this 1 , after all Thirdgen honor is on it!

Whats your best ET? If you can get traction than you should win. It could go the other way also. It really depends on the driver. It seems like he cant drive if he ran 14.7 but Mustangs hp is over rated. A better driver could get lower times with that Mustang but if you get traction he will have to play catch up. Thats how I beat car off the line with my drag radials and they have to play catch up but they only have a 1/4 mile!!! Just race and find out.

For what he has done to the car, he should run 13.7-14.0 with a good launch. I'd check to see if he is a first timer, and if so race him before he learns. If thats the case I got my money on you.

From what you're saying, it sounds like he can't drive worth 2 cents. Put some money on it to help fund the poor college student account because you're going to smoke him.
Thx guys,
but I got bad news
Since the rich Doctor wants a piece of Trans Am history he apparently tried himself this weekend against 2000 WS6 T/A
Of course he got his *** handed back to him , around here when the weather is nice sum of the car people take their cars out for a stroll in the winter when the road are not too dirty. I dont have a garage so mine is sleeping under the covers
So anyways my friend was telling me this story and I gladly told him to back off the fatc that his dad should'nt take on superioir -bodies
But after a while he calls me back to brag that his dad ( the rich doctor!) is gonna have a SuperCharger installed in April/Mai!!!
So honestly guys i think I will lose at this points So guess I'll take him in a burnout contest!
Maybe its just bluffing, maybe not... I tend to beleive cuz i saw brochures. Man the cheapest Vortect unit + install is gonna cost him like 6-7000$$$ man all i know is that supercharging gives what 50-70 % more power...

The Saleens are roots blown, making 6 lbs of boost on a really stiff suspension and hard tires. An intercooled procharger at 10 - 12 lbs. on a 99+ GT should put it in close range of running in the 11's on slicks, but you'd probably break an axle or transmission before you got there.
Just something to keep in the back of your mind is that there are absolutely no similarities in the Windsor and Modular motors.
